Slowly getting there...

"Feelings are not supposed to be logical.
Dangerous is the man who has rationalized his emotions."
David Borenstein

It's hard to focus when your entire being just wants to sleep... Still have to pack my stuff for the week, and the dog's stuff too. BF's gone to get roasted chicken for his dinner, I'm not hungry... that's what vacation's all about, right? Complete lack of routine! Wooooo!

Buzzzy day!

Yep, getting all the ducks in a row... Had a good night's sleep & got up at a reasonable hour (for a weekend, hehe)... Just came back from brunch with my friend N, and we decided that once a month isn't too much for a girl's ritual. So yeah, we're onto something fun here ;-) Just need a better restaurant next time, and I'll bring my camera.

What's left... doing laundry now, then heading out to get the kid's ground beef for the week, have to do some banking & sorting paperwork, then pack... oh and we need to get the car washed and stuff, nothing too dramatic. Have a headache again but I think it's the damn sinuses, UGH.

Wait!!!

I'm still going to blog next week, don't all go away and leave me all by my lonesome! And no, I won't bore you with tons of pics. Just a couple, maybe... if you ask nice, LOL! Blogging is cathartic and lets me just be creative however the hell I feel like at the moment, take that away from me and I'll suffocate. So yeah, please do hang around... I'll make it worth your while ;-)

It's official!

I'M ON VACATION FOR THE NEXT 9 DAYS!!!

I don't feel it yet though, it will take a while to wind down. Still so much to do before we leave Sunday morning... need to take deeeep breaths right now, have some dinner, get in my jammies and ask bf for a shoulder rub, I'm as stiff as a board, haven't released the stress yet. Oh and my cold is getting worse, got a sore throat AND sniffles AND blocked sinuses now, how swell! When the body speaks... the soul should listen. I'm so going to enjoy that sea.

Morning hit

I couldn't stand it anymore and had a hot strong latte before work today... aaaah. Caffeine rush, I love you! It's Friday, as of 5pm I am officially on vacation, the sun is shining and life is good. Just need to get through this workday first - as I said, hail to the coffee bean, to good friends and to inspiration. Life ROCKS!

Brouhaha

"Live your life and forget your age."
Norman Vincent Peale

I want an iPhone sooo bad! Can't wait for it to be available and affordable for us Canucks... I'll probably get the 2nd or 3rd gen model though, the first ones always tend to have more bugs than a chinese restaurant. But oh! Do they ever look yummay... my fingers are itching!

Am having a major fetish right now for chocolate-covered raisins. So what if they look like rabbit droppings, they taste good. They're chewy, sweet, and totally bad for you. I wonder how I can ever attempt a 5-day cleanse and not die from wanting all manners of junk food... I guess we'll find out. After vacation, I'm going for it. If anyone has a recommendation for a liquid-based cleanse, please let me know... am not going hard-core and living off lemonade for 10 days, my liver will start to eat itself. But 5 days... I can do that. Or at least I can give it a damn good try... would love to know how it feels to have a flat tummy.

Sooo... we ground up another batch of chicken frames for the dogs tonight (35 lbs of that crap), it's super messy and gross eh? Just have to hop in the shower now, need a hair treatment and it's finally cool enough so that I can enjoy some steam in there. Aaaah. So refreshing, I love it. I LOVE SUMMER!!!

Are you KIDDING ME?!

Recently read on a pet forum:

"My neighbours have a 5 month old GSD/Bouvier mix. Last night she told me her and her family are leaving on Friday for a week's vacation to New Brunswick. I said, "oh, how nice, the dog will enjoy running on the beach".

Her reply? "Oh, no we're leaving him at home". I asked her who was watching the dog, and she said that he'll be fine, that she's getting a neighbour to come in once a day (ONCE A DAY???!!!) to let him out and to feed him, the rest of the time he'll be in his crate. "

This is so wrong in so many ways, I don't know if I should scream or hire a hitman to get rid of these morons - cleansing the gene pool. WTF are they thinking?... A 5-month old puppy all alone for a week in a house, in a crate? While the "owners" vacation by the sea? Has the world gone mad? Is there no human decency or brains left? I want to cry.

Hail to the bean

Ah glorious coffee bean... how I miss you! Soon it will be cool enough to sip your hot deliciousness again...

Boy did it ever rain last night, the floor was still wet where the wind pushed the water right in... we had thunder, lightning, the works - but still today the hot wet blanket continues to smother us with smoggy grossness. The world's weather is gettin' whacked on the side of the head thanks to humans fucking up the planet. I'm glad I don't have kids, so they won't have to suffer in 50 years for today's mistakes: oil companies, wars, pollution of air and water, extinction of species and ecosystems, GMOs, famine, draught, melting polar caps, you name it. I won't be here when two-headed cows are the norm but... I do worry.

One last thought...

Photo copyright Technodoll, 2007

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?"
Mary Oliver

You are issued ONE life

...I've been stumbling on a few excellent quotes lately that have got my brain in gear.. here are two of my favorites:

"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity. They seem to be more afraid of life than death" James F. Bymes

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Mark Twain

As content as I am with my life, I am feeling the pressing need to grow, to move these heavy limbs, to break out from the comforting routine and just... live. I don't know where, how, why or when - is it the approaching big 4-0? A midlife crisis? Jeez I've been in this city for 16 years now, I feel like screaming sometimes. Sure I love the familiarity and the security, it's what keeps me down and grounded, it's why I'm still here.

Sigh. I just feel like somehow, life is passing me by and every year, every month, every day is precious time wasted. Sure the grass always seems greener elsewhere, I have no illusions. Half of me feels I should just shut up and be content with this life, there's nothing wrong with it. The other half of me, which is becoming louder and louder, wants me to wake the hell up and DO something with my life, stop mucking around and shed those doubts, that fear, that cloak of "I can't do it". Fear... it's so paralyzing. If only I weren't so damn rational and cautious. Who knows what could happen.

Ah, to fly away...

I can't wait for this opressing hot sticky heat wave to be over - where are those storms that will bring coolness and relief?! My laptop is overheating and I'm afraid the battery is gonna catch on fire - wouldn't that be the cherry!

Felt fine all day at the office (blessed A/C), now that I'm home my head is splitting in half. Coincidence? I think not! OK it was a busy day, two more left to close the sales quarter and then I'm outta here, gone on vaycayshion - it feels unreal. I'll have to find an internet cafe during the week to feed the blog and keep in touch with the fun part of the world, since there is no connection at the cottage... Logistics, my favorite thing! LOL. OK off to eat some fruit salad and yogurt, it's too bloody hot to eat anything else.

FUBAR dreams

I won't get into details cuz reading about other people's dreams is b-oooring, suffice to say that after taking Tylenol at 4:30am to cure the headache that was keeping me from deep sleep, I had some pretty fucked-up dreams, you know the frantic, loud and disjointed ones? Sooo many people, music, total chaos - that was some wild party, folks. I'm all hung over! LOL.

No coffee yet today, it's just too swampy hot. Not even noon yet and already 36C with humidex - probably going to get some nice thunderstorms later, and of course I forgot my umbrella. And I mixed up the lunches so I got BF's stuff and he got mine - which doesn't work at all, cuz he eats stuff I'm allergic to. Goddamn it! I feel like a pinhead!

Battle of the sexes...

"Men are taught to apologize for their weakness,
women for their strengths."
Lois Wyse

Party ON!

IT IS!

SO!!

BLEDDY!

HOT!

I'm sitting in my livingroom almost naked, only wearing half a silk babydoll so my ass doesn't stick to the sofa, and sweat is trickling down my cleavage, down my back, pearling on my temples - fecking gross, man. I'm a drink-water-and-pee machine and hey, tomorrow's even hotter how wonderful is that? Wheeee!

A cold in June. Great!

I can't believe this, I'm fighting a cold! I thought the sore scratchy throat was a side-effect of sleeping in A/C but nope, this is all about ze germs! UGH. Looks like I do need a vacation... Immune system is down and out in the bollocks. I'll take more echinacea tonight, took an iron supplement, am drinking glass after glass of water, had some decaf tea and Vit-C rich apple juice... good golly. "If it's not one thing, it's your mother!" LOL

Scorcher today

We're bracing ourselves for a HOT and sticky day, up to 40C with humidex... gross! So happy my dogsitter is taking the kids for the day, at least he has A/C... it gets so hot in our place that the candles bend over from melting.

Didn't sleep much or well last night but today is gonna be fine. Just have to be disciplined and work hard, smile harder. And I can't believe that two virgins are reading my blog - or are you peeps screwing with my head?! Ho boy, and here I am all ready to post some hottie photos... I'll have to rethink that now. (he he - not!)

An unmemorable weekend

I already forgot all about it, that's how boring it was. Oh I slept alot, ate too much chocolate and got fat, I blogged, bitched and battled the blues, sweated and swore, yadi yada... Oh I made up Jesus in the field, does that count?

Photo copyright Technodoll, 2007
I've got to get my act together for the next few days, it should be quite busy at work and next weekend we are OFF to the seaside for a holiday. I'm packin' my camera, my laptop and favorite blanket, favorite movies and walking shoes. That should cover all the essentials... oh and wine, lots of wine.

Gotta feed the kids now, then take a shower & prepare tomorrow's lunches and stuff. I'm so sorry for boring you all to death with such stupid posts lately. I guess I do need a vacation.

Motor-surfing!

Oral Sex Poll Results

Here's what you voted for...

I am a female and like getting it 23%
I am a male and like giving it 21%
I am a male and like getting it 18%
I am female and like giving it 15%
I am a female and do not like getting it 10%
I am a male and do not like getting it 8%
I am a female and do not like giving it 5%
I am a male and do not like giving it 0%
Never received oral sex 0%
Never given oral sex 0%

So all my readers have either given or received it at some point of their lives, all the men like giving it, which is good cuz alot of women like getting it, and vice-versa. Maybe the poll structure was complicated, I'm a bit lost in the tabulations, myself. Next poll is much simpler... take a look!

33C with humidex, UGH

...and getting hotter and damper by the hour. WTF is wrong with this city! Just had a bowl of granola which bumped me to "blimp" factor, was too tired to get the last bit of groceries so bf went by himself (oh! thank you!) and yeah, just feeling kinda blah today. At least I'm learning to respect my limitations, it's OK to be completely useless sometimes. Had some orange juice with a dose of echinacea and as of tomorrow, I am PUMPED and OUT of this funk! I have to be, I am better than this.

How I feel today

There ya go.

Not a very good start...

I somehow managed to sleep until noon today. Yes, 12:14pm to be exact. And I feel like shit... blasting headache, sore neck and shoulders, am dizzy and my ears are ringing, and of course my period started so am doubled-over with nasty cramps. WTF? It's gray, hot and humid outside of course, there's another heatwave heading our way but that's OK, it's summer in Montreal eh?

Ah well, I'll make the best of this day anyways. Just had a shower, finished my latte and will have fruit salad & yogurt now, and then we'll go walk the dogs and run some errands on the way. The only chore I'm doing today is one grocery store and the laundry and that's IT! So I'm a big bum laa-dee-daaaaah. Gotta put up a new poll tonight... since nobody suggested anything it's all up to me, so watch out! he he.

On love

"You will find as you look back upon your life
that the moments when you have really lived
are the moments when you have done things
in the spirit of love."
Henry Drummond

After a shitload of chocolate

Funny, I don't feel any better. These physical cravings have got to STOP! Can I just bleed already and get this over with?! UGH. I'm getting fat and gross again and I need to get a grip, it's not who I want to be, this weak and unfocussed person stuck in a rut.

OK this day has been good so far, had a nice walk in Old Montreal and drank in the sights, sounds and smells of happy people enjoying life, the house is relatively clean and the fridge is full, tomorrow is a holiday so I can catch up on more sleep, the doggies are sleeping tight after their adventures this afternoon, so I've got nothing to bitch about, really. Then why do I feel so alone, so cut off from the world, so helpless and so empty? Stupid PMS funk. Just fuck off, will you? Leave me alone!

Closing the poll tomorrow!

Last chance to cast your vote, if you haven't already contributed... I'm sure everyone has an opinion, one way or the other!

I'll put up another poll shortly after that... Any suggestions on what you'd like to see?

Collision!

Collision with a big sleep-wave, that is... still haven't left the house and it's mid-afternoon, I'm such a loser. Both dogs are now clean (one had a bath), dinner's simmering in the crockpot... I tossed together some bone-in, skinless chicken breasts and drumsticks with potatoes à la portuguese, which is in super-spicy chicken broth with tons of garlic, oh yummay - I'm dressed and ready to go... bf is just finishing up the house vaccuming while I nod off, practically drooling on my chin. UGH. Who the hell naps in the middle of a gorgeous warm sunny summer day?!

I need ice-cream, that's what! Oooo sugar rush!

Speaking of the big beanie

Here he was last week, drowning in flowers... Photo copyright Technodoll, 2007

Just what I needed

Had a good 9 hours' sleep and today, I finally feel somewhat rested and OK with the world. Nevermind the bunch of nonsensical but really fun dreams, that's just bonus material (grin). Today is sunny, warm and breezy and it's still mid-weekend - as tomorrow is a holiday - so anything goes. No idea *what* to do yet though... Right now I have to give the big beanie a bath cuz he's so grotty (white dogs + city dirt = gross) but after that... prolly will just go walking around town or something. Oooo - maybe Old Montreal! There are alot of festivities going on right now... Hmm.

I caught a bee

I had to overcome my bee phobia to get this close and capture Mr Bumble on film... but it was worth it. What amazing little creatures they are. Photo copyright Technodoll, 2007

A best friend to cure the blues

I'm feeling a bit better now after hitting rock bottom this afternoon... I was really coming apart at the seams, going stir-crazy in my stuff appartment, a ball of tears in my throat and blood boiling in my head... Thank goodness for N, who said "come over" and we did what chicks just do: watched a bunch of classic Depeche Mode videos, ate Ruffle chips with onion dip until our livers hurt, and just talked about nothing and everything. Am back home now sipping Shiraz with bf and watching "Blood Diamonds" with one eye and typing with the other. I just love multitasking. My heart isn't aching so much anymore. Thank you, N.

Chicagosheri, have a GREAT time tonight at the concert you lucky gal! I hope your back doesn't hurt so you can dance, dance, dance! I'll be thinking of you. Time to feed the furkids now, they don't want the seared chicken (bastids!) so it's the raw beef and veggie mush for them again tonight. No, not spoiled at all...

Two things I love

OK three things... blue skies, fluffy clouds and a big sweet dog sitting by my side to cuddle with. Photo copyright Technodoll, 2007.

Kraft Dinner and beer

Can you sink any lower? That was my dinner last night... topped with one delicious dark chocolate orange truffle cookie. So THERE! Fuck you PMS!

Today I feel like my flesh has been replaced with a million heavy dusty bricks and my brain is crushed, my heart is bleeding, I feel stoned, dizzy and exhausted... got up at 11am and only managed to have breakfast, half a latte and to feed the dogs. I'm in desperate need of a shower and Colgate to scrub the green fuzz from my tongue (insert silent scream). Yeah. It's totally gorgeous outside too, like nature is mocking me: nyaa nyaa we're perfect and you're not! Well screw you too. It's just that kind of day.

Dragging my fat ass to the shower now... then will go pick up some groceries, the fridge is empty and the cupboards just about only hold liquor, dried pasta and canned beans. So yeah, who knows what this day is gonna turn into... thank god for Black Strobe's "Shining Bright Star - Phones Industrial Version" which is pumping some kind of life into this insipid head of mine. Only played it 3 times in a row so far.

The path of life

"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable
but more useful than a life spent doing nothing."
George Bernard Shaw

I'm blue, dammit

Complete crash down to mother earth. Probably the delightful mix of PMS and extreme fatigue simmering into a toxic soup, all I want to do is read a trash novel, drink beer and eat chips while in my jammies, and screw being healthy and reasonable. But. BUT. It's so hard to break down and allow myself to do that, cuz I know I'll feel like shit about it later. "must be disciplined", you know. Now I want chocolate cake with thick icing. AAAAAAAHHH!!

What I see through the lens

Friday afternoon moronities

Another round of the famous "Poo List"...

GHOST POO : You know you've pooed. There is poo on the toilet paper but none in the toilet.
TEFLON COATED POO : Comes out so slick, clean and easy that you don't even feel it. No trace of poo on the toilet paper, you have to look in the toilet to be sure you did it.
GOOEY POO : This has the consistency of hot tar. You wipe 12 time and you still don't come clean. You end up putting toilet paper in your underpants so you don't stain them. This poo leaves permanent skid marks in the toilet.
SECOND THOUGHT POO : You're all done wiping and about to stand up when you realise it, you've got some more.
POP A VEIN VEIN IN YOUR FOREHEAD POO : This is the kind of poo that killed Elvis. It doesn't want to come out until you're all sweaty, trembling, and purple from straining so hard.
WEIGHT WATCHERS POO : You poo so much that you lose several kilograms.
RIGHT NOW POO : You better be within 30 seconds of a toilet. You burn rubber getting there. Usually, it has its head out before you get your pants down.
KING KONG POO : This one is so big that you know it won't go down the toilet unless you break it into smaller chunks. A wire coat hanger works well. This kind of poo usually happens at someone elses house.
CORK POO : ( Also known as a floater.) Even after the third flush, it's still floating in the bowel. My God! How do I get rid of it??
WET CHEEKS POO : This poo hits the water sideways and makes a big splash that gets you all wet.
WISH POO : You sit there all cramped up for a few minutes, but no poo.
CEMENT BLOCK POO : You wish that you'd gotten a spinal block before you pooed.
SNAKE POO : This poo is fairly soft, about as thick as your thumb, and at least three feet long.
MEXICAN FOOD POO : ( Also called the screamer.) You know it's okay to eat again when your bum stops burning.
BEER DRUNK AND MEAT PIE POO : This happens the day after the night before. Normally your poos don't smell too bad, but this one is BAD!! Usually this happens at someone else's house, and there is someone standing outside the door waiting to use the bathroom.

I wish I was a donut

Sigh. Am doing fuck-all today, am just NOT in the mood... feeling blah, tired, blue and heavy. Must be PMS at work... yeah, that's it. Had too much fun the past few days and now I'm paying for it. Thank you Mister Sunshine, thank you... you are loved.

It's Friday and...

...I've got both eyes in one socket. Grey and sprinkling outside, a cool 18C, I feel snuggly and comfy and woozy tired, I know I should be stressed about stuff but I can't be bothered right now. I'll get through this work day the best I can, take care of the monthly home bills, go have lunch with a colleague who broke up with her BF and needs company, munch on candy all day cuz it's PMS and I'm allowed, push more paper and make more phone calls, then finally call it a week and just... collapse, I guess.

This weekend I want to cook up a few nice things, I've been so lazy and uninspired lately though. I threw out a 10 lbs bag of potatoes, unopened and sprouting eyes and arms and hair, the fridge is empty except for dog food and condiments, blah. Maybe after 12 hours of sleep, I'll actually feel like being a housewife. Wheeee.

Another butchered translation

Yummay.

WHAT??!!

Are you kidding me? Who the hell voted "I am male and do not like receiving oral sex"?? And who are these women (or men?) giving such crappy head that the guy doesn't like it? My lord, this is a sad state of affairs. Going to bed now, please no nightmares!

Rolling in the tornado

I can't imagine people who are busy like this from the crack of dawn until late at night, 5 days a week or more - kill me now! I sure am looking forward to this 3-day weekend, I promise you... Am working late tonight then have a team dinner, after that it's jammies and cuddling with the furkids and bf for a few minutes before a good night's rest (hopefully). Oh and Happy Birthday Prin! he he. She'll loooove that :-)

Jeezus I need to get back to Smiler and catch up on a bunch of emails, still tons of spring cleaning to do this weekend too, and I really want to work on my photos and sleep... been taxing my reserves and my little red baggy eyes are NOT happy. Oh did I mention I'm on PMS right now, too? More like a warning than anything else, he he.

As of tomorrow, we start losing daylight hours. Already. Does that bother anyone else but me?!

Wednesday, June 20, 2007

Too tired to post...

Sorry folks, my brain's fried and I feel like I've been run over by a truck - many trucks - I'll be back tomorrow, hopefully sizzlin' like baby maggots in a hot greased pan. Today was exhausting, the tail end of too few hours of sleep, too much work and lots of exercise. At least I got some interesting shots in the field tonight, will post some later after I've framed them just right. G'nite world!

Warning about the new poll!

It seems that for some folks, the poll only records the 1st checked-off item in the list (if you selected more than one answer). Since I don't want it to be flawed, if you might want to vote again but with only one answer at a time... wow that sucks, so sorry. No pun intended.

Is it time for pie now?

Just a short drive-by posting before I hop in the shower to scrub today's sweatiness off my body... talk about "ick", sooo damn humid outside it's oppressing. But anyhoo. The hours just whizzed by my head, three days left but I can handle it...

It was so nice to see G for a coffee this afternoon, it's like we saw each other yesterday even if it's been more than a year - people change but your good friends don't and that is something precious. Hell after 19 years... it's gotta mean something. Caught up on the gossip and I still can't get over that he got MUGGED a couple months ago right here in this city!! Gasp! And he has the scar on his face to prove it, where the bastids smashed his face in the cement and winter snow and salt - jeezus krispies, what is this world coming to! I am so never walking anywhere at night without my two dogs... "come and git me!"

And then had a really cool impromptu evening visit with my friend N, she cracks me up with her tales of chocolate men as she's enjoying a strawberry sundae, he he! We even went for a drink after, the night was balmy and humid, open terrasses spilling happy laughing people onto the sidewalk, music in the air, just magical. I guess because summers are so damn short here, people try to cram in as much as they can - me included. I could have stayed out another hour but tomorrow is a busy day, 9am training - oh, that bites - need my beauty rest ;-)

Cocotte, help me find Marcus

Can you PM me his email address please?... I haven't spoken to him in years and since I'll be in LA the 2nd weekend of August, I'd love to catch up with him if he's in town... and if he remembers me, LOL! Merci and mouah! mouah!

So there's a scorcher building up, they're predicting 33C today but humidity pushes it up near 40. Which means you sweat but it has nowhere to go except run down your back... swell! I'm finally meeting G for a lunchtime coffee, after months of hits and misses, but I think that'll be an iced coffee for me... looking forward to the chat. OK back to work now, whip whip whip!

Look inside of yourself

"Heroes take journeys, confront dragons,
and discover the treasure of their true selves."
Carol Lynn Pearson

Snoop poll results

Question was: Are you a snoop? You're invited to a friend's house for the first time, and need to use the washroom. Do you:

Just do your business and get out as quickly as you can: 62%
Take your time, casually inspect everything, maybe peep behind the shower curtain: 23%
My answer is not here: 15%
Make it a point to snoop everywhere, specially the medecine cabinet... no harm in looking: 0%
Snoop, inspect, serve yourself: 0%

I'm just curious what lies behind the "My answer is not here". Hmmmmm.

Another glorious summer day

I know I act all surprised when it's hot and sunny, even mid-June but... this is Montreal, after all, where the weather is as stable as a bi-polar meth addict on magic shrooms.

Surprisingly my body parts aren't as stiff as I thought they would be after yesterday afternoon's beating, which means that a) I'm in better shape than I imagined or b) I'm part android. Yey! That would also explain my weird eating patterns. Woke up with a bellyache this morning so had to skip breakfast, how smart is that..! not. Now for an important public announcement:

If you want to piss me off:
  • Ignore me for days and weeks
  • Don't reply to my emails
  • Don't keep up with my life
  • Put me at the bottom of your priorities
  • Rush through all communications
  • Talk to me while writing emails or reading something else
  • Make it feel like a chore to give me two minutes of your time
  • Get mad at me for expressing my frustrations

...and then expect me to be all lovey-dovey, affectionate and emotionally available when you need me... Sorry but fuck off, eh? Get a fish!

Sunday, June 17, 2007

Darkness falls

...and with it comes blissful coolness, relative silence - as quiet as a busy city can be - and the call of dreams on a soft pillow. Hope I don't have any nightmares, I just finished a big bowl of fruit and nut granola with a sliced banana and feel like a bloated pregnant whale. ugh. I shouldn't be eating breakfast 10 hours in advance... when will I learn?

So I'll be closing the poll tomorrow, the new one is already in the works... I promise it will be quite interesting! That's if I can type, that is... am already so freaking sore, spring cleaning sucks and get the Advil ready OK? G'nite world!

It's gonna hurt

I better brace myself... 5 hours of vigorous scrubbing, rubbing, washing and deep cleaning that stupid kitchen is already starting to make my arms, shoulders and back feel like a monster from outer space. Everything's gonna be stiffer than an 18-yr old on viagra - but it was worth it. We had a flash "Singapore storm" in the early afternoon, which brought the humidity level down thank-the-lord, at least there was a cool breeze to keep me company during the cleaning. BF took care of the kids and other chores so yeah, almost ready for a long hard work week... Going to make a bunch of food now, back soon!

Speaking of breakfast

This little daughter of Satan is probably thinking "oooh, fresh scrambled goat guts, my favorite!" - 50's marketing at its best, or "the evolution of LSD".

If I could...

...I would sleep all day in the cool bedroom, eat in bed, read and watch TV and snooze some more... ah, what a treat that would be! But no, life prevails and so do weekend chores - groceries, cooking, cleaning, errands. UGH. I just crawled out of bed after a nice shoulder rub (thank you bf!), had some latte and now need to get a move-on. I want to clean the cruddy kitchen from inside out, including the gunky fridge, and that'll take a few hours... also need to remember to call Smiler, I've got alzheimers these days. Must be my brain melting from the stinky humid heat.

Saturday, June 16, 2007

Busy, blistering hot day!

It's still 30C with the humidex right now, and I have the sweat to prove it! Thank goodness for the hour by the breezy river, next time I'm going in deeper than just my thighs - it was soo refreshing. The kids were kinda zombie-esque and had to be convinced that water is a *good* thing, after a while they were OK with swimming and shaking and rolling in the beach sand. They're nothing like Jemma, who can swim for hours and howls for more!

Everything has felt heavy since then. The air, my bones, my lungs, my head. After a quick lunch, emails and finishing the laundry - I had to lay down for an hour as I was close to passing out. I didn't sleep but it still felt good...

Now we've just come back from a 2-hour walk downtown where the street fair is still in full swing, thousands of people milling the streets, restaurant terrasses and music and bands and merchants' wares spilling onto the street in a great chaos, it was marvelous. I need to start asking a nickle from everyone who ooos and aaahs over the dogs and wants to pet them and take photographs, they could finance their food for the month this way. No, seriously, after a while it's fucking tedious. They're just dogs, get over it! grumble grumble.

Gonna crash early again tonight, I can't shake this exhaustion. The heat is really getting to me, I can't seem to regulate my body temp and it's making me feel ill. Thank God for the A/C in the bedroom - rreeeerr!

Glorious sleep!

Now that was smart! Was in bed at 11pm last night (a miracle for a Friday) and got up at 9am today, plenty of time to enjoy this gorgeous hot sunny summer day. Already done two loads of laundry, the kids are fed and groomed, dishes are done and bed is made, I had a healthy light breakfast & obligatory latte, my forums & emails are all done and yep, life is good! Tomorrow's supposed to rain somewhat, so the weekend chores will wait until then.

As soon as I can confirm with Prin what time we meet at the river, we'll be off -it's just a short 30 mins drive - the kids will be thrilled for the chance to get wet and sandy, and of course we'll take tons of pics. And this time I'm not forgetting the SPF 30 sunblock cream, my arms still hurt from yesterday's sun beating. Aloha!

Parting words...

“Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls”
Kahlil Gibran

I think it's heatstroke

I feel sooo sick... even ginger gravol and water are no use. Just took a cool shower but I'm still burning up... hard to breathe, dizzy, feel drunk even though I only had 2 glasses of sangria after work, with bread to soak up the alcohol. The drinks were probably not the smartest idea, eh? Not even 10pm and I just want to go to bed and sleep for 12 hours... BF just took the kids for their evening walk but when he comes back I think I'll go crash. I'm just not making much sense right now anyways, gghhhaaa! bye.

Arms on fire!

I'm such an idiot... met my friend Boo for an iced latte after lunch and as we were sitting there outside in the blazing sun chatting, only then I noticed my arms sizzling away... I had bought SPF 30 sunblock this morning but forgot to put it on! Now they are quite hot and burning, I'm scared of skin cancer and not too proud of myself. Ugh. The joys of summer. It was nice to catch up though, and great that he can still endure me after 20 years LOL! People change but yet, they never really do - and that's a good thing .

Ooo! Some colleagues are going out for a drink after work and I'm being dragged along, I suppose I could since it's Friday evening after all... yep, why the hell not. I've done fuck-all so far today anyways, let's cap it off with a cold beer! Woo!

Friday's broken sign

The answer to "Follow the sign and go f*ck yourself". he he. I wonder what the population of this wonderful little town is.

Tired and crabby

I slept well, just not enough. It's a beautiful sunny summer day, but already too hot and humid. So I'm tired and cranky and irritated with the world, basically... lazy, unmotivated and a pleasure to be around (NOT). I wouldn't be surprised that it's still a side-effect of the McD garbage from yesterday afternoon, that shit is loaded with steroids and hormones and salt and fat and old grannie sweat. Turns sweet little girls into werewolves... no wonder the world is in a shitty state.

Today's thought...

New rockin' hairdresser

Thumbs up, I love her! Perfect cut & style, she really listened to what I wanted, she's fun and frankly, she made me look hot! (not that I want to brag, I'm just thrilled). What a day, I'm pooped... I need an early night, will have a glass of red wine and put my feet up - well, they're already up and I'm in a sexy silky Jacob babydoll, perfect for a warm summer night - sooo happy it's Friday tomorrow. Ahhh.

Did you know that a McD large fries has 570 calories? and a double cheeseburger has 430. A small apple juice: 80 calories. It's sick!!! No wonder I'm getting all fat and soft again... eating shit like that. I'm so pissed at myself. Plus it almost got me killed on the highway. Dinner tonight was a bowl of fruit salad with fat-free yogurt but I still feel so dirty inside. Unholy!

McDonald's tried to kill me

Seriously. Don't ever snarf down a late McD lunch after an hour in the hot sun, and then attempt to drive home alone on a straight empty highway. After 45 minutes of fighting grogginess, nodding off, slapping myself in the face and blurry vision due to extreme fatigue... I did it, I nodded off at the wheel for two seconds. What saved me from a bad crash in ditch was that strip of corrugated asphalt they put on the side of the road, to jar sleepy drivers awake - guess what, it fucking works! The adrenaline rush kept me going for most of the leftover drive home but my god, was that ever scary. brrr.

It was a beautiful visit though, took many photos of my grandparents cuz every time I see them, I am afraid it's the last. My mom and F are doing such a wonderful job of taking care of them, I don't know how they do it... but they just DO, with love and devotion. Hats off to them both. I've got to run to the hairdresser's now but will blog more later, am full of stories today it seems!

Today's broken sign

Driving to Magog now!

So my mom was really happy for the surprise birthday visit, woo! And it's gorgeous out today, I have tons of awesome new music to keep me company in the car, I get to see both my grandparents too and take lots of pics - I'm so happy I took today off, man. Oh and I decided that this weekend, the kitchen gets its spring cleaning done. The fridge smells like beaver crawled in there and died and I can't stand to look under the sink anymore, it's so fucking gross cuz that's where the garbage sits and well, ya know. Trashy. Y'all behave today ok? :-)

Shepherd of dreams

"Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers,
the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters,
and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books."
John Lubbock

Who's behind the bubblegum?

Peek-a-boo! It's been a fun day of seeing all these post comments fly back and forth, you guys are keeping me busy! LOL. Good thing it was a quiet day at work... so quiet, in fact, that I had the brilliant idea of taking the day off tomorrow to go meet up with my mom for her birthday. Only she doesn't know about it yet, I'll call her in the morning and just surprise her. We rarely get to spend any time together even though we live 3 short car hours from each other - this has got to stop! Life is too short for "I'll do it later". Sometimes... there are just no more "laters" and then you feel like shit for having procrastinated.

Do any of you color your own hair at home? Why does it always itch so much when the color settles? Drives me nuts cuz you can't scratch, eh? argh!

25 more minutes to go before the blessed shower, glass of red wine and then crash. I'm pretty proud of myself too, it's the 3rd day in a row that I am headache-free, which is a fucking miracle considering the torrid heat and humidity lately. Seems that maaaybe the treatment is working... Woot! Kay I'm running out of steam here... just like my two zombie dogs. They spent the whole afternoon at the sitter's, which is the equivalent to Disneyland for kids. Yep, we are blessed.

I hate weak tea

WTF? Got this apparently fab new tea but it's so tasteless, you need two bags to flavor a cup! GHAH! what's the point? Hope the lemon gingersnaps (authentic! made in Sweden!) are worth my while...

New-age marketing

I should advertise my blog with the above message, it's so stupid it's brilliant! Although the bubblegum store is half-empty today... nothing terribly exciting to share as it's mid-week humdrum, still gorgeous hot & sunny weather gracing our skies, health is fine, work is fine and I'm a happy gal. I did have a weirdo dream about a guy shaking wads of poop on my hands and giggling "oops I'm sorry", and here I am standing at this old ceramic sink (you know the ones with a hot-water tap on the left, and a cold-water tap on the right?) trying to scrub it off, but the old bar of soap is useless and oh it's so fucking gross. Wonder what that means?!

Bridget Jones goes to bed

Yep, besides the cigarettes I could be a Quebecoise version of Bridget (even her initials spell... well, you figure it out). I'm fat again, am bloated, I'm lazy cuz it's fucking hot and sweltering outside, I haven't exercised in weeks, I ate cake today, and chocolate, and one of those absoltely gross "Tim Horton's Iced Cappuccinos" which was a total waste of $3 and please don't even bother trying one, it's like drinking artificially-sweet liquid shortening with bubbles, I'm drinking more iced tea than water and nary a vegetable in sight. OK I suck!

Egg salad sandwiches

What can I say? I love 'em! And there is a big stack of them in the fridge, all fresh and yummy and wrapped up in individual portions, all courtesy of my chef friend who got tired of not cooking for us the past 6 weeks, LOL! Thank the lord he took care of the kids this afternoon too, 34C with humidex and the appartment here was sweltering. His place has A/C so the dogs are very comfy there, plus they get to play and just be spoiled. He's taking them again tomorrow... gonna be hot all week.

So what's up with all you Geminis!!

I know too many people with birthdays this month (not including the Cancers), I'll just throw a collective "Happy Birthday" to all of you, if it's politically correct. My parents each get a gift though, cuz well they endured me for all those years and whatnot.

So for the gossip... Smiler has a new boyfriend (( choir of angels! )) and is on a honeymoon of sorts, N's fridge is on the fritz and her bread has been soft in the freezer for days, but she's happy cuz Carlos is moving in soon as her roommie, I owe Cocotte a visit at dairy queen for ice-cream and more gossip, I should invite Dani too since they both live in the same neighborhood (girls! are you up for it?! you'd love each other!), Boo is travelling too much but I'm ok to meet for a coffee -iced please! - later this week just ping me ok? Prin is gussing up with lots of cool Victoria's Secret yummies and wants to know: do expensive high-heels hurt the feet as much as cheap ones? Paul is mad cuz I told him stuff about someone he used to know, I thought he knew but he didn't and now things are messed up, kinda... Skip is happy sailing on his boat on the weekends and winning races, and right now my head is spinning so I'm forgetting lots of peeps please forgive me Amen.

I want some!! sigh.

Privacy respected!

So far the snoops don't rule... but you never know what the Poll Results will be by the weekend. If you haven't yet cast your vote, hurry up! Dammit! I wanna know :-) (Polls are always on the right-hand column of the blog, just scroll down a bit). There, that was easy, yes?

So again it was just me and the dogs who slept in the "fridge" last night, and oh! it was marvelous. BF thinks he's coming down with something, he hasn't been feeling well in a while so he slept on the couch. I told him to go see a doctor and get bloodwork done, it's been years and it's not normal to feel sick all the time. Poor sweetie. There's just nothing I can do to help.

It's still early morning and already a sweltering, heavy 25C... there is just NO middle ground, for fuck's sake: either 10C and raining chilly or it's jungle swamp! My closet is choking with 4-seasons clothing - fun fun fun!

If I were made of chocolate...

...ok besides eating off my arms and my legs, I'd be melting into a big sweet dark puddle right now. Grab some fruit and dip away! oh lordy... is it ever hot and muggy in this appartment. Truly these old building are made to capture and retain heat, which is great in winter but obviously sucks when it's 30C for days on end. UGH! Time for a cool shower and a bowl of granola, since I forgot to eat dinner. Or was it lunch? My brain is melting!

Another "caption this" moment!

This is Jemma, my friend P's little girl... Can you caption this photo? Winner gets doggy smoochies! LOL

Mega*wutt*??

Hmmm. I dunno, man... even with glasses it's hard to tell. I'm thinking some designer is permanently looking for work by now. Maybe he should take this little project out of his Resume!

Cruisin'...

That's what it feels like today... not really awake, just cruising along in a semi-dream state. I like it there, it's comfortable and happy... I slept like a starfish last night - bf took the couch as he doesn't like the A/C sometimes - and can't wait to do it again. reeer! It's mom's birthday this week, then my dad's on the weekend, plus father's day, a whole party of geminis! I'm always late or last-minute for gifts or cards, hence the 2nd request for a secretary... I'm so hopeless, feel like a deer in headlights. Ugh. Maybe a 2nd latte would help.

On fantasies

"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells.
Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.
It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end
of a telescope. Which is what I do.
And that enables you to laugh at life's realities."
Dr. Suess

End of a gorgeous weekend

You can tell when it's been beautiful, I'm not online much... am busy outside enjoying the too-short summer! I wish I had another day to pretend I'm in California... my freckles have freckles, LOL! We spent the afternoon at my dogsitter's house, he hosted his annual BBQ for us and a bunch of friends, needless to say we ate too much and had a very nice time... I was BAD and had a ton of junk food (like Doritos and brownies, eh? but no booze), shrimp brochettes, macaroni salad, the works! The three dogs had a blast and behaved beautifully, there were no kids at the party so it was perfect! Oh and there was cheesecake...

On the downside, I've been neglecting returning phone-calls and emails and am probably on a few blacklists :-( Hopefully I'll be forgiven once I start acting like a friend again... sigh. I need more hours in a day or a secretary. Both would be nice.

I have a mission this week to exercise more and eat better, time to stop being lazy and create some energy - a few very busy weeks are looming ahead, it's quarter end and that means HELL. So yeah... take iron supplements, get enough rest and plenty of exercise, eat smartly and try not to get stressed over the small stuff too much. Wish me luck, my friends!

Irreverent bondage

yet rig elections, suppress dissent, and schackle the press."
Harold Koh

Zippy post

I haven't had one minute of quiet computer-time today and now there's so much to chat about it seems impossible to catch up! UGH! So in a nutshell: got up late cuz wanted to catch up on sleep, had a quick breakfast then drove up to Laval with my girlie to meet P and her furries so the three kids could have a splashing good time in the cool river, it was such a beautiful summer afternoon - was very glad for the chance to escape the city for a few hours. A few of my favorite snapshots:

(All images Copyright Technodoll, 2007)

After some food and wrangling with uploading all the photos, it was time to head out again with BF for the week's groceries, then put everything away, do a bit of housework, have dinner and feed the kids, and now it's late... time for our evening walk with the kids for their last leg stretch. Oh and the big one was NOT happy to have missed out on the river swim... he doesn't get along with most male dogs so he had to stay home. He's been moping ever since.

PS: smiler! i got your messages tonight and meant to call you back, oh i'm SO sorry!! i promise to catch up tomorrow and hope it's not too late?...
