Well they used to bother me a little but now they bother me a lot: they're harder to read than ever and I often have to enter the damn thing 3 or 4 times before getting it right... I may be a little dyslexic but come ON!
Makes me want to not post any comments to avoid the headache :-(
Honestly, what is it even for? I've yet to meet a single person whose blog was attacked by a mean virus that posted spam all over the place just for the heck of it.
So I am begging you to please think about removing this gimmick so I can rest my weary eyes and focus on enjoying your blogs bettah. Yes?

Yes, it`s rather annoying. I usually avoid commenting a second time on such blogs. I am also happy you gave up the comments approving thingie :) It really killed the debates :)
I HATE the verifications. I do. And I know I have them myself - but I *was* spammed pretty harshly and it was only after that happened, that I changed it to word verification

Amen lol. I use haloscan and they dont have that option... and i like that! It doesnt prevent me from commenting, but man, it frustrates me a lot :-\
I didn't even know I had it until today because when I comment on my own journal it doesn't come up. I'll remove it. :o)
And there's always the audio option. Does blogger have that? I think they all do. It speaks out the letters.

I just get email notification. Spammers come, I get notified and if need be, I turn on comment moderation for a bit. No need for jumblies.
I know!!! I don't know how to turn mine off. It says that I don't have a spam blocker. It drives me nuts on other people's site as well. Damn the bad apples who have to talk spam.
Hey Techno. I know you have commented on this on my blog once before. But please don't stay away, sweetie. I know the word verification thingy can be a pain in the butt. But its better than being spammed by 200 spambots in a single day. I almost deleted my blog that time. Almost!

But like Prin said, if you have the option of getting email notifications when people leave comments, it's a good way to make sure you can delete the spamments if they ever appear... well not when you get so many post comments like Deutlich does, LOL! :-D
How to remove the word verification thingie?
-go to Blog customize, hit the "settings" tab, click on "comments" and the 10th item down should be "Show word verification for comments?" - and just click "no".
Dat's it!! For those of you who decide to opt out.
If not? I still loves ya!! will catch up on everyone tonight, it's a crazy work day (dammit).
Why can't they make it a real word. Why does it have to me all j's and i's all mooshed together all the time?
