Thank you, Pink Floyd

Their song "Time" is one of my very favorites... it brings me to tears so I don't play it very often.

However it describes exactly how I feel, right now, on this lonely Friday night as I head off to bed wondering "WTF?". Must be the impending birthday that is getting me all freaked out. Bleh.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then the one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in the relative way, but you're older
And shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desparation is the English way
The time is gone the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

i have a question... why are people like us hating birthdays? And why do we have a quarter life crisis? It's almost silly, but I can tel you that I've had several already!

I just had to go and put that song on, and now I feel I'm wasting my life. Cheers. *sigh* You know I went to school with Dave Gilmour's daughters? That was many suns ago now...

Just remember, a birthday is for everyone else to celebrate having had the pleasure of knowing you and all the joy you've brought them. x

SG, no I didn't know - how cool is that? And about birthdays... what can I say, they're just traumatic for me. Bleh.

Pink Floyd will always be satisfying to me. I might have to go listen to some right now. Aside from the song Money, which I hate; I don't think there's a song by them I don't want to hear!

Natalie - I agree... they have always been there for me growing up and they're just part of my life, what more can I say!
