Where is everyone?
Goodness, blogland has been unusually quiet the past two days... is there a silent protest going on that I don't know about? LOL!
Maybe I'm too addicted to this thing. Maybe I should take a break? Maybe we've all run out of stuff to talk about? Maybe I need to chill, winston?
Sigh. At least those fries were really good.

What a waker-upper!!
Big kudos to Bacon Yum's post on shoe shopping, foot evils and all that boomshakala!!
She posted this link to You Walk Wrong, a terrific read on how shoes have wrecked our feet since we humans started wearing them, and why, how, etc. Not only totally fascinating but a real eye-opener, for sure... Fun to read too.
I highly encourage everyone to take a peek, your footsies will thank you!

The devil on my shoulder
I want to do a very naughty thing.
Blast this healthy eating, I am craaaving some hot fresh crispy fries drenched in vinegar. I mean CRAVING. So far the rézistance has been in full effect and I have not abandonned my desk to go seek out these fat beauties but my god.
How long is a girl supposed to resist before she crumbles?
I just had a glass of water and an apple, I've got my lunch ready to heat up (rice and chicken in spicy cocomilk sauce, home-made). And an orange for dessert.
How dull.

Is this really necessary?
Many blogs I visit have this arse-annoying "word verification" thingie that prevents you from posting comments until it's filled out propery - you know what I'm talking about, right?

Well they used to bother me a little but now they bother me a lot: they're harder to read than ever and I often have to enter the damn thing 3 or 4 times before getting it right... I may be a little dyslexic but come ON!
Makes me want to not post any comments to avoid the headache :-(
Honestly, what is it even for? I've yet to meet a single person whose blog was attacked by a mean virus that posted spam all over the place just for the heck of it.
So I am begging you to please think about removing this gimmick so I can rest my weary eyes and focus on enjoying your blogs bettah. Yes?

I love my "pitbull asiatique"!
JUST MY DOG
He is my other eyes that can see above
the clouds; my other ears that hear above
the winds. He is the part of me that can
reach out into the sea.
He has told me a thousand times over that
I am his reason for being: by the way he
rests against my leg; by the way he thumps
his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he
shows his hurt when I leave without taking him.
(I think it makes him sick with worry when he
is not along to care for me.)
When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.
When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.
When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.
When I am a fool, he ignores it.
When I succeed, he brags.
Without him, I am only another man. With him,
I am all-powerful.
He is loyalty itself.
He has taught me the meaning of devotion.
With him, I know a secret comfort and a
private peace. He has brought me understanding
where before I was ignorant.
His head on my knee can heal my human hurts.
His presence by my side is protection against
my fears of dark and unknown things.
He has promised to wait for me...
Whenever... wherever--in case I need him.
And I expect I will--as I always have.
He is just my dog.

Puurrrr.
That's as good a way to describe this weekend as any other - it wasn't perfect, but it was purrr.
-Gorgeous weather, soaked plenty of it up so I'm ready for this week's icky cold rain.
-Had a lovely time with N today walking by the river with the kids and just getting out of my neighborhood for a change.
-Am eating pretty well so health is good: yay for summer weight!
-Made progress in purging... still 75% to go and six weeks to do it so I'm on target, yay!
And lastly, I got to finally spend some chat & phone time with Vegas, which was a blessing. He's been on a crazy schedule lately and with the 5-hour time difference, connecting has been a bit challenging.
So yeah. Time for bed now, my head is full.
PS: some dude admiringly called my dogs "asian pitbulls" tonight - it was pretty funny since he quickly moved his giant gorgeous chocolate brown pitbull off the sidewalk to let the kids and I pass. It's funny to hear a big guy ooooh and aaaah so much to his friends about the amazing "pitbulls asiatiques", LOL!

Slave labor
No blogging today... just mad house cleaning, trash dumping, errand running and chore accomplishing - I'm beat but happy and feel very fulfilled. No more pigstye for a bit.
What a helluva day - my hands are cracked and crabby but my heart is back in the right place: moving forwards, onwards and upwards... towards an amazing new life with Vegas.
*choir of angels*
Just watched Juno (it was alright), going to read in bed for a bit and then crash. Hope you are all having an awesome weekend!

Live. Love. Let go.
is that no matter what has happened,
it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment.
And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new.

That was HARD :-(
Just finished purging bin #2, took me two days... I thought it would be easy to dump all the stuff from my ex-husband but you know what?
The more I plowed through those 7 1/2 years of memories (and trust me there was a crapload of letters, cards, mementos, etc) the more I became aware of how much of a shitty person I used to be in my early 20's.
Selfish, self-centered, spoiled, fickle and a just using the world for my own purposes.
Not to kick a dead horse but my god, I remembered he had treated me like gold and in return I gave him mostly heartache but I had forgotten just how badly it all went down.
How often he took me back after I cheated on him. How he supported me financially for all those years, and then some. How I sat on my lazy ass and just enjoyed all the attention, thinking I deserved it because of my crappy childhood. How he really loved me and I took it for granted.
Sigh.
I do chalk it down to a major life experience, to growing up and learning important lessons. Too bad it took me another decade to finally wake up and realise who I am, what I am worth and why I'm here on this planet.
My hands are shaking right now, I'm mentally exhausted and wrung out and I have a huge lump of sadness lodged in my throat. I still don't know if I'm doing the right thing by eliminating my past like this - nothing has been burnt yet, it's all still in one giant bag ready for cremation. I'm so afraid of regrets, that is the problem... but I know that I *need* to do this and I'll feel cleansed after it's all done.
Still, I want to tell my past and all the people in it a few things:
I am so sorry.
I am sorry I hurt you like that.
I am sorry I didn't know who I was, and acted so lost.
I am sorry for the disillusions, the lies, the mistakes.
I am sorry you paid for it with heartache.
If it's any consolation, I truly loved you all and you are all part of me forever. I'm not all grown up now, I don't know if I will ever be, but I'm doing the best I can with what I have.
And just so you know: Mama Karma, she gave me back all the crap I dished out in my life so I've learned my lesson - in return I've been hurt, I've been lied to, I've been cheated on, my heart got broken in a million pieces. But you know what? I'm all better now, balance has been restored and my universe has finally righted itself.
I am at peace, I am whole, I am alive.
I am grateful.

This is me on a Friday afternoon
How much is too much?
For sleep, I mean.
I slept for 9 solid hours but feel worse today than I did yesterday - is that normal? My brain is pulsing and wants to rip out of my skull, no amount of stoopid painkillers helps either (the UK drugs are still not here, grraaaahh!). Did I oversleep? I don't remember waking up in a pretzel either...
So yeah it's a warm sunny Friday and I am miserable with pain. Booo.
I added to my credit-card debt last night and bought a new pair of leather walking shoes, flat ones for my fussy feet - can't walk to work in a dress and Nikes, can I? Well I could, white tube socks and all. Then I'd have to kill myself and that's no good.
The thing is, I can't wear cheap shoes, I just can't. They wreck my arches, ankles and knees - so up the footwear chain I go, ka-chinng!
However, judging by the current poll I'm not out of the ordinary or anything. No debts other than the car that Vegas and I just bought, which will hopefully last for a few years after it's paid off. Bah it's only money, right?
*goes off to make a cup of instant coffee cuz it's a loser of a day*

Promised photos
Remember the curtains that Vegas put up? I took a couple of pics to try and show you what I meant... you can click on them for a bigger view.

Dear virtuous readers:
That last poll was fun....
Most of you said you were funny, then compassionate, friendly, kind, smart/generous... but NOBODY chose "patience" as their biggest virtue!
I happen to find that quite funny :-D
PS: new poll is up, go get your bites in!

How nasty is this?
Toothache, anyone?
Recently read in the paper:
A patient reporting for an appointment with dentist Norman Rubin in Smithtown, N.Y., in March told the New York Post that Rubin was in the otherwise-empty office, passed out, drooling, with a gas mask on his face. (Rubin later told the Post, in defense, that it was, after all, his lunch hour.) [New York Post, 3-20-08]
Um, does this make anyone else but me slightly MORE paranoid to visit the dentist?!

Hoboy.
This purge is going to take alot longer than I thought... it took me two hours last night to go through one large plastic bin of letter, cards and mementos - and that bin was half-filled with books.
I have two more of these bins to go through, plus a closet and a library of junk, not to mention CDs and clothes and ohhh dear.
Jeebus help meh.
See, I'm a reader. I can't just throw stuff away without knowing what it is. Thankfully I had, at some point in my past, categorized items in cardboard boxes by person so I knew which ones would go fast (mostly exes and the shithead ex-stepfather), but the notes and cards from my family, well I really had to go through everything one piece at a time to see what to keep and what to toss.
There is a bag of "karmic cremation" items, which I will burn in a big happy fire.
There is a bag of trash.
There is a pile of bank items to shred.
And there is a pile of photos that I have no idea what to do with... don't want to throw them away, many mean alot to me. It's who I have been all through these years to get to the person I am today, from the ugly awkward duckling with braces and bad hair to this lined and adult face.
I'm happy to be finally doing this, even if it's mentally exhausting. At first it felt unsettling to be tossing things, knowing I will never be able to see or touch or read them again... but then suddenly I felt at peace and released from my past, in a way.
Total congruence.
I wish I could be one of these efficient people who can purge ruthlessly and quickly (like Vegas) but I just can't, it's not me. I tried and it didn't feel right.
Oh well - we all have our quirks I guess.
In all of this, I forgot to mention I saw a big grey dead rat on the sidewalk on my way to work yesterday morning, all stretched out with eyes wide open, as if its last thoughts were "wow that bread tasted stran - aaaaaaaakkk!".
I think this is the 3rd rat I've ever seen in this city, how gross. One was years ago, perched atop a garbage bin just digging in by a bustop, one was caught by my melonhead dog when he was a puppy (although this rat was a pretty pinto, white and dark brown, probably someone's pet that got dumped in an alley) - I made him spit it out, FFS! Diseases! And now this dead little bastard.
Not sure why I just wrote two whole paragraphs about rats. Oh well... good morning everyone from Miss Groggyhead with cobwebs for brains.

Dear hockey fans:
I can understand that you are happy that your home team (the Habs) won the game against the Boston Bruins last night. I get it that you feel the need to celebrate.
What I don't support is your need to drive around residential neighborhoods from 8pm to midnight honking your car horns, screaming, blowing air horns and hollering like demented rats on fire. Really. Is that necessary? Can't you do this in the privacy of your own homes?
What I also don't get is your need to violently riot and vandalize a dozen police cars and set six more on fire: it's retarded and you're retarded. Who pays for these cars, you morons? Your parents' tax dollars and my tax dollars, that's who!
Betcha feel smart the next day, hungover and sitting in a jail cell. I hope you all get thrashed to within an inch of your life, you sorry excuses for human beings.

Monday groaner
A new TV game show in Hollywood had many contestants who were beautiful, but they weren't necessarily too smart.
On one show, one such blonde woman was extremely nervous, but tried to make the best of her performance.
The host asked, "Who was the first man, for one thousand dollars?"
She responded, "The first man was Peter, my postman, but he only paid me one hundred dollars!"
/DOH!/

Monday hell
I'll pretend to wave my magic wand all over it and poof! it transforms into any other day but Monday...
Ever have days when the alarm rings, you get out of bed and robotically get through your morning routine but you've never really woken up?
My head is full of drunken bees and cotton batten, that's what.
I'm tired. I'm bored. I'm cranky and anti-funky. Just had to get that out there so you don't expect any pink bunnytails and fairy dust here today.
Grump.

A kind philosophy
I have to say...
This has been a most lovely weekend, despite the back-to-back headaches - we're having a long streak of super gorgeous June weather and boy, is everyone and their brother out to enjoy it!
I met up with sweet T (aka HO) from Newfoundland yesterday afternoon, it's such a pleasure to finally meet people you became friends with online via common interests (in this case, doggies!).
We had fun strolling through the bubbly neighborhood, all restos and terrasses were bursting at the seams so we settled on some fresh bakery wares and made ourselves a picknicky brunch here at my place. And yes the furkids drowned her in kissies, as they are wont to do... "just tasting her, mom!". Yeah, right!
Today was "do frigg-all" day... slept too late, ate leftovers for breakfast and then enjoyed a stroll in the warm sunny field while the dogs romped around... the warm breeze on my cheeks felt like vacation, meow.
In the afternoon I met up with N and Funboy in the afternoon for some Dairy Queen chemical-fat-in-a-bowl (I'm done for the summer), chitchat and giggles, then back home to grab my camera and the dogs for a stroll on the mountain - yey! The Sunday tamtams are back!
What is that, you ask?
How about I post some photos tomorrow and you can see for yourselves - it's mayhem around a giant statue, it's one of the best drum circles in existance, it's hoards of hippies, it's clouds of Mary Jane and the hypnotizing trance of drums floating in and out of it all... mmm! Totally awesome :-)
Or check it out yourself:
So in all of this, it's now time for bed and I've not done any house purging today. Didn't even wash my balcony door windows or do laundry or anything, good lord what a sloth I am. Sigh. I must have spent over two hours chatting with Vegas online today, I guess it's all about priorities eh?
I love him.
I miss him.
Repeat until sick.
Hope you all had fun and/or interesting weekends, will catch up with blogland tomorrow! oh PS: I'm almost certain to get those two awful frown lines between my brows botoxed away soon... have any of you had it done?! I need feedback!

1,2,3 GO: purge has begun!
Well... this might take more time than I thought, so I'm happy to have started early.
After 8.5 years in this place (and having dragged a bunch of old crap in with me when I moved), I am purging.
Yep. The big one.
Vegas and I will stay here for a couple of years to save up for a down payment on our house so I need to make room for his things when he moves here in June, plus we are re-arranging a few rooms to fit what we can into this small appartment by using up the square footage wisely.
So I need to toss, sell and donate alot of crap.
Who needs bins of old letters, school scrapbooks, dusty cassettes, mounds of photos, VHS tapes and 80's t-shirts? Not to mention the hundreds of CD's, rendered almost useless thanks to Mister iPod and other awesome technology. The futon has to go, as do a bunch of shoes, kitchen things and knick-knacks.
I tackled ONE chest of drawers tonight which was full of paperwork... ugh, five years of paperwork... plus cards, receipts, tax documents, contracts, yadi yadi. I'm done two hours later with a giant bag of stuff to shred and another one for the trash.
Kinda sad doing this ruthless work sober.
Is this what life ends up as? Memories stamped on a brain and on paper? And when you throw stuff away, are we erasing a bit of us in the process? I found birthday cards from old friends I had completely forgotten about. How did that happen? I did keep the nice things from my family though - some things are too precious to let go of.
The worst was throwing away all the cards and notes from my ex. You spend so much energy in a relationship and then it doesn't work out, you wonder "what happened?" and yeah, it's a bit hard to cut those ties to the past... I don't think I've ever really done it before. I'm a hoarder and have kept every scrap of paper since the beginning of time but now? It has to go.
I need to stretch these wings and stand on my own.
The past is gone but the memories are a part of me forever and that is all that matters. That, and my new life with Vegas. A fresh start, a new me and a new "us". I want to spend the rest of my life with this man so I am giving this relationship the respect and attention it deserves.
Because you know what? I am finally ready to do it. My heart has been conquered and it feels awesome. It was truly worth the wait.

Me and my Chateau La Lieue
Just before I go crash for the night, I'd like to thank this bottle of wine for keeping me in good spirits... cuz when I think about how it's only been three nights since Vegas left and there are 56 left until he comes back, I want to stick a cactus in my eye to dull the mental pain. Cripes this sucks ass.
Anyways. The dogs are super filthy and dusty from the wonderful "city spring dirt", they both needed a major raking tonight and of course they just started to blow their coats - pulled enough fur off them to knit six winter scarves and twelve pairs of itchy socks - so after spending an hour brushing them and trimming their nails and whiskers, I had to hoover the entire appartment or risk suffocating in the fluff.
Awesome. Friday night? and I'm housecleaning.
My life rocks!
At least I have a sexy blue Victoria's Secret bra on, thanks to Prin. A girl needs something to boost her spirits, eh? Sigh. Back to the wine dregs and then zzzz. Cheers y'all!

Are you a dusk fan?
It's all about the sunsets right now in my Bubblegum Snapshots blog - gowon, take a peek!
Next bunch of photos will probably be spring / blossom / absurdities stuff, it's nice enough to go out and take another round of photos now... sigh. I can't wait to travel with Vegas and have new and exciting things to play with (photos people, photos! not young pool boys! tsk).
At lunchtime today, I got to see Prin's hot new summer hairdo (two thumb's up!) and I'm really thinking hard about chopping off lots of my frizzy curls... It's just getting so tedious to deal with and oh, those hot humid summer days will just drive me mad! Plus I almost always tie up my hair, it's too messy and bothersome to be pretty anymore.
Curly hair is a curse... can't cut it too short or I'll have a 'fro on my head. *cries*
I need help!
And yes the blue Victoria's Secret bra is goooorgeous, I pray it fits... I need all the pushup I can get, it would be very sad and embarassing if it were too BIG for me: I've never filled up a C-cup before, jelly or no jelly! Damn genes.
Anyways... Happy Friday everyone, hope blogland isn't deserted this weekend.

I attract the crazies. All of them.
As you can see I have a bit of time on my hands tonight for fugging around, so I went to see how people land on my blog via web searches... I think I squirted wine from my nose.

Some hockey fans are nutters
(click on the photos for a larger view... yep, even the inside is completely done over!)
Saw this gem parked in my street and I just had to take a photo... by god, is it me or do some sports fans just take things a weee too far? A comment of note: Vegas wants this car, badly. And the t-shirt. All the while sipping maple syrup straight from the can, on hockey skates. I love my man! :-D

Ode to chocolate
You lay there on my desk
Wrapped, lazy, shimmering foil
Smooth and creamy hard
Under your paper clothing
I unwrap you
Gently
Slowly
Ease you out of your constraints
Wrapped, lazy, shimmering foil
Smooth and creamy hard
Under your paper clothing
I unwrap you
Gently
Slowly
Ease you out of your constraints
Oh, the sweet offering you make
Naked and melting
Against my hot tongue
One mouthful at a time
Soon there is nothing left
But sticky fingers
And chocolate crumbs
On my desk
Guilt creeps in, dark and insidious
Slowly erases the pleasure
From my senses
And deposits the residue
On my fat ass.
Foiled again!

It's all just "nice"
What else can I say?
The weather was nice today, my dogs are in a nice mood, the field where we went to walk after work was nice and dry (the jerk we met there with two dogs was a ripe asshole, nicely executed), this organic wine is nice, I had a nice chat with my dad on the phone this afternoon and it was nice to cross a day off the calendar... yes, one day closer to Vegas being here for good. Nice.
I don't care to count how many days are left. Pfft.
On to random hayday thoughts...
Have any of you ever given blood? What is that like? I've been thinking that someday I should be a good citizen and do it but man... getting my veins milked that like scares the crap out of me. Even the donut isn't tempting enough.
I ate too much chocolate today and tried to make up for it by eating a rocket and broccoli salad for dinner, with an orange for dessert. And some chocolate cookies. And wine. Crap. Plan has backfired.
If anyone has suggestions for an awesome Caribbean location for a January wedding, please don't be shy! Small island with no jumbo jets, cruise liners or busses of kids please :-)
A fried banana for dessert constitutes as a serving of fruit, right?
OK I'm slowly going off my rocker here... better to say goodnite before the rest of the wine kicks in and I start mumbling about all the hot incredible sex I'll be missing the next two months. *cries*

Oh my!
China's societal self-improvement in preparation for the 2008 Olympics continues.
The Beijing Tourism Bureau ordered hotels to re-translate English signs, hoping to avoid such notorious past gaffes as "Racist Park," which is now "Park of Ethnic Minorities," and a cafe's attempt to salute Western visitors with "Welcome, big nose friends."
And the Beijing Olympics Committee has been training hostesses for months to stand in military-like precision, straight enough to hold a sheet of paper between their knees, and to smile continuously, showing "six to eight teeth" (even if placing a chopstick in the mouth sideways is necessary for practice). There are height and weight requirements for the hostesses, and each must have an upper- to lower-body ratio of no more than 11-to-13, to eliminate, according to local newspapers, "big bottoms."
[Daily Telegraph (London), 3-20-08] [Daily Telegraph (London), 1-11-08]
Um, so the Olympics have nothing to do with sports anymore?... Or is turning humans into robots the new competition in town - gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "you are special and unique, just like everybody else".

Cuddles, anyone?
These two help me get through the roughest of times... how could anyone feel morose after cuddling with these two bears and being covered in happy dog kissies? Yeah, being a momma isn't always easy, but it is always worth it.

Gone, baby, gone
I am still in robo-mode after driving Vegas to the airport earlier tonight.
I promised myself that this time I would not cry... well at least not right away. Am feeling ill from suppressing it, I'm so cold that my nose is red and my fingers are like frozen fish sticks.
This sucks giantly and I can't even find anything witty to add to this sad grey PMS post. Oh yeah, did I mention it's PMS time too?
Groovy. :-(
Wine and chocolate can only do so much.
PS: yes I know it's only 2 months and after that he's here for good and bla bla bla. It STILL sucks, pining is retarded and oh, what a sad sook I've turned into. GRAAHH!

Give yourself a faith lift
Same event, different date... kinda sorta!
You know the feeling when something just isn't sitting right, when it's niggling in the back of your mind on stealth mode and raising stress levels subconsciously until it all boils over at some point?
Well that happened two days ago and thank saint verbiage for that!
Getting married in early August just isn't going to happen. And yes, this is for real and it's not an April fish. The timing was just too crazy!! Who wants to get married in the sweltering city and then fly off to Los Angeles the next day for a grueling week of tradeshow hell?
Not me, not Vegas, not anyone.
Sooo we decided to postpone the wedding to January 11th 2009... somewhere in the Caribbean! Yup. Gonna escape the Great Canadian Winter and go spend 10 days on a small, quiet, hot beachy island, get married at sunset with our bare feet in the sand.
Hell, we're only going to do this once so we're going to do it right. Friends and family will be all invited, of course, so save up your pennies for an awesome vacation! For those who won't be able to make it, we'll have a party shortly after to celebrate the happiness. From sunburn to snowballs, isn't that fun?
We're both very happy and relieved with this decision, and our families support us entirely. Now we can relax into this busy summer and enjoy our new life together as it comes.
Just need to get through the next two months without going nutters.

Why I am not having kids
A young man was visiting his brother and sister-in-law for dinner and was surprised to find his young nephew, Timmy, helping to bake some cupcakes.
After they were done baking, his sister-in-law allowed Timmy to put the icing on. When he had finished, he brought the cupcakes to the table.
"The cupcakes look delicious, Tim." his uncle said, as he took a bite out of one, while looking at the other cupcakes. "Timmy these are so good."
As he finished one and took another he again complimented his little nephew.
"The cupcakes look beautiful, Tim," his uncle said. "How did you get the icing spread so evenly?"
His nephew replied, "I licked them."

I don't believe the numbers
Statistics are only true if the entire pool is queried, so my last poll (which is closed but still up on the right-hand side of the blog here) did surprise me in a way.
I know for a fact that more women than men read my blog, or at least comment and, I assume, vote on the polls. So that kinda makes sense.
What surprised me was the apparent age group of readers! Either that, or a bunch of middle-aged married christians are voting and blindsiding me with mischief, LOL!
I'm not saying that having an abundance of sexual parters is a given the older you get, BUT from real-life experience and speaking with my friends and such, it is common to see the numbers go up as one ages and lives through more relationships and adventures. And, to clarify: by "sexual partners" I meant anyone you had some level of sex with, not necessarily intercourse. Maybe I should have been more clear on that... hmmm.
Monday's thought: the office is dead quiet and I'm so glad Vegas is here with me today and tomorrow. Lunch in the sun is on the menu, and I'll blog about the change in wedding plans later.
Back to sales reporting! *whips and chains*

Back! but soon gone again
So we're back from two days at my mom's in Quebec City, whew!
We drove there in the rain yesterday and ended up in the SNOW - I should have taken a photo of the neighborhood's 12-feet-tall grimy snowbanks - but today was lovely enough for walking outside and shopping in the old city: Vegas is officially the biggest tourist I've ever known (3 t-shirts, 2 flags, a key chain, a fridge magnet... I put my foot down on the "Habs car flag", over my dead body!) - LOL!
We had a great time despite my mom's furnace which went out of control, the thermostat broke or something so we had to open the windows and man, it was HOT in that house! Freaking horrendous - speedos, anyone? And why do these things always happen on the weekend when repair people are off? Grrr!
I love travelling with my man, he's a perfect car companion and I could not ask for a better friend, soulmate, partner and lover. Sigh. It will be hell to say goodbye Tuesday evening, the only redemption is that this is the last time. Two more months of long-distance crap and then it's all over, finally all over!! He moves here mid-June and ah, let summer and life together begin.
Totally rockin'!!
OK time for a shower, jammies, hot chocolate (yummy organic spicy chili stuff) and movie cuddles.
I'll bitch and moan about Monday tomorrow.

The curtains are goin' up
Yes, we bought funky curtains for the living room - well, to split the two living-room sections and make the couch/TV area more snuggly. Yes, we're that kinda sickening, LOL!
Oh, but they are sooo beautiful... a kind of electric sea-blue and made from thin silky heavy floor-length threads, imagine bead curtains? but made with fabric so when bunched up it looks gorgeous and when loose, you can see through them, very exotic, breezy and original if I do say so myself.
I promise to take a picture on a sunny day to show you :-)
Kinda funny to see Vegas struggle with the drill, screwdriver and stepladder though, he he! The handyman is doing a good job, I have no complaints. I wonder what kind of payment he expects later - reeerrr!
Dinner is luscious sushi and expensive chilled chianti, maybe a movie or just leafing though the bags of books we bought this afternoon. Life rocks despite the shitty wet hail and wind, eh? You just need your soulmate close by.

Brrr chillay... wha' happened?
I feel really bad for the peeps who worked all through this gorgeous warm week, now it's Friday and the cold is back, the rain/wet snow is rolling in and oh wow, it's gonna be pretty shitty the next three days to be honest.
Outside, I mean. Not inside.
Again the calendar is in a race against me, am not too pleased about that. How did six days fly by so fast? Crap!!
We're trying to leave the house today to spend the afternoon in the downtown underground, it's just one giant maze of malls really but Vegas wants to see it so... gotta make some kind of effort to be social. We're visiting my mom this weekend (she lives 3 hours away), can't bring the furkids cuz she has a cat and my little cat-killer is not welcome, if you know what I mean. Thank god for my amazing dogsitter!
Um, any of you have trouble with sleeping overnight at your parents' and, uh, getting it on with your mate? Specially if you need to be very quiet which is impossible when it's that good? *eek!*
Some pillow is gonna have teeth marks. He he.

Yabba dabba doo!
Well: life is good, I mean gooood! *grin*
Sorry I haven't been posting lately but I figured one can only write so much about enjoying the warm spring weather, long walks in the sunshine, no routine or alarm clocks, fabulous dinners, wine, movies, midafternoon naps, hours o'cuddles and (insert dirty stuff here) - so yeah, so far it's a freaking good relaxing time with Vegas.
I don't know how I will cope for two months without him.
*blanks out mind for now*
"No country for old men" was a pretty good Cohen brothers movie but again, the ending fishtailed in a rush and meh, it kinda killled the story IMO. "The Invasion" was an OK remake of "The Body Snatchers" but what the eff is wrong with Hollywood flopping out on movie endings like that? So disappointing.
Anyhoo. Supposed to get colder now, icy rain and mebbe "snow" this weekend. Not really caring at this point, it's time for cuddles!!
Who needs more in life?

Sorry I haven't been posting lately but I figured one can only write so much about enjoying the warm spring weather, long walks in the sunshine, no routine or alarm clocks, fabulous dinners, wine, movies, midafternoon naps, hours o'cuddles and (insert dirty stuff here) - so yeah, so far it's a freaking good relaxing time with Vegas.
I don't know how I will cope for two months without him.

Best vacation weather evah!
(well for spring anyways)
Yeeessss! The sun is hot(ish), the snow is melting, there is not a cloud in the sky and the week's forecast is for dry days, on or above average temps - moua ha ha!
Vegas and I took the kids for a long walk this morning - almost two hours - after a lovely lazy morning in bed and a leisurly breakfast, rrr. It feels strange not to "do anything", it takes some getting used to actually.
"So, what do you want to do now?"
"Dunno, what do you want to do?"
"Nuthin'"
"Cool!"
This, after a month of stress that nearly drove us both nutters in a most mentally violent fashion, and tell you what: the next couple of months won't be a picnic either so yeah, this laziness is well-deserved and most enjoyed.
We watched "I Am Legend" last night, what a bomb. I mean OK the movie was alright in a creepy fucked-up way and then the end just rushed up like a freakshow, as if the producers ran out of money or something and just slapped a few disjointed scenes together, The End - so disappointing. Don't waste your time on the rental.
Ooops lust calls, gotta go - be good, peeps! *wink*

Finally heaven
Vegas is finally here! Since yesterday morning... *big sigh of relief*
I think he brought spring with him, too: it's now warm and sunny, the birds are out and oh! Me so happy! (( grin ))
Am not gone from the bloggosphere but might be sporadic in the next few days - will post pics and we're taking some videos of the dogs, so that should be fun.
Thanks again for your kind wishes and support, everyone. It helped me to keep it all together until my man finally arrived. And now? I can't get enough and am enjoying every moment of being a hussy, he he.
This week of vacation already ROCKS!

I wish I had superpowers
I would make the snow stop and the warm sun soak up this wet dirty mess outside.
I would make this headache vanish and be replaced with a smile.
I would fly Vegas on my back aaaall the way across the ocean and straight into my bed, where we would spend the whole night forgetting about all the troubles outside our door.
I would then stop the time so that he never has to leave again.

Adding to the misery:
A snowstorm.
This morning's weather prediction: "scattered showers in the afternoon".
Current conditions: snowing like a fucker the past two hours, with no relief in sight. Outside is one giant white mass of CRAP!
Awesome. They can put a man on the moon but can't predict a giant snowstorm 3 hours before it swallows us up? What is WRONG with this place?
*cries*

Bitter deception
Just swallowing back tears of frustration right now...
British Airways asshats cancelled Vegas' flight (he was supposed to land at 8pm tonight) so he had to fight his way out of the mess, got re-routed to Boston tonight and will only arrive tomorrow at lunchtime.
Dammit, I'll have to shave again!
Seriously, I have been looking forward to tonight for 5 weeks now - we both have. So it's only a small delay but still - what a bitter pill. To top it off, today is cold, gray and raining, I have a headache and oh, I miss him so damn much.
At least we'll be on the same continent tonight.
Small mercies.

"Never lose your cool"
That's the slogan behind the Mazda 5 GT (this is not our car, same color but sexier mags).
She drives like a dream and smells sweeter than baby hair, I can't wait to pick Vegas up at the airport tomorrow night in ze zoomzoom girl!
Oh and I drove the cheaper GS version in black for two years and loved it, so it was an easy hop into an upgraded model. Not much choice when you have two big dogs, you know? Vegas is so funny... said we had to put the first scratch on the new car together (ok under the hood, eh?) so the worst will be done... all future scratches won't hurt so much then, he he!
The iPod adapter thingie is a headbender though - once the iPod is plugged in, all access is through the stereo which does not display song titles or anything, only strange random numbers and fuck me if I understand anything. The user's manual is useless! Ghah!
Anybody else have this? Help!

Drive-by posting
Not much time for blogging today, will have to catch up with y'all tonight after the mad dash! I'll need the brain drain...
Am picking up our new car this afternoon (yes, I'm that strong raaarrrghhh) so work is pretty frantic at the moment - and YES!! So excited! Shiny new car with no doggy stink, that's for later. And Vegas arrives tomorrow night so what better way to greet him at the airport?
*yay!*
If only it wouldn't rain tomorrow, that would be awesome. But no... the new white car has to be indoctrinated to greasy mud after Day 1. Grrrr. I seethe.

Oooo - good one!
Two women were comparing notes on the difficulties of running a small business.
"I started a new practice last year," the first one said. "I insist that each of my employees take at least a week off every three months."
"Why in the world would you do that?" the other asked.
She responded, "It's the best way I know of to learn which ones I can do without."

Surrounded by stink
My nose is surviving a really bad attack of the senses today - ugh!
First, I cooked broccoli late last night and it was too cold to open any windows, so you can imagine the smell in the appartment this morning (I have no vent above my stove either).
Then came the smoking toaster oven, the cheese that dripped and melted over the heating elements the other day is *still* burning off. Peeyoujezus.
All that mixed with horrendous dog farts all night.
It was hard to breathe this morning cuz of all the gagging! And again too freezing cold to open any windows, I mean Febreze poosh-poosh can only do so much, eh? My whole place smells like a giant sewer that caught on fire, for chrissake.
I thought I'd get some respite at the office - but no, there had to be a giant fire a block away, so the smoke fumes were pushed into our ventilation system by the fierce winds, said system had to be shut down... right after one of my colleagues burnt popcorn in the microwave next to my office.
I. Can't. Breathe!!

OMG this is **brilliant**
"100 Movies, 100 Quotes, 100 Numbers"
I thought I'd get bored after a minute but lo! and behold! it's so well done and curiosity kept getting the better of me... I did the whole countdown from 100 to 1!
Not sure how many movies I identified but it seemed like half - ok maybe one quarter, I don't know any of the old ones. How many did you get?
And how man man-hours were spent putting this baby together, I wonder - wowza!
PS: Vegas, YEESSS Nigel's on Eleven! LOL!

"Sleep" - a poem
Come, Sleep; O Sleep! the certain knot of peace.
The baiting-place of wit, the balm of woe,
The poor man's wealth, the prisoner's release,
Th' indifferent judge between the high and low;
With shield of proof shield me from out the prease
Of those fierce darts Despair at me doth throw:
O make in me those civil wars to cease;
I will good tribute pay, if thou do so.
Take thou of me smooth pillows, sweetest bed,
A chamber deaf to noise and blind of light,
A rosy garland and a weary head;
And if these things, as being thine by right,
Move not thy heavy grace, thou shalt in me,
Livelier than elsewhere, Stella's image see.
~Sir Philip Sidney (1554-1586)~

I'm truly sorry! LOL!
Has spring sprung?
Finally? Could it be true?
A glimpse today into what the coming months hold in store, ie warmth and chirping birds? I dare not dream too much as more cold and flying flurries are on the forecast but just for today... it's awesome.
I don't even mind the mud and stench of melting dog poop.
I pretty much blanked out last night after struggling to post something, anything... had poured myself a glass of wine and found it intact on the table this morning. I don't even remember forgetting to drink it. I know you know what I mean.
So in today's news... Vegas and I broke up last night.
We decided things were maybe going too fast and we needed to take a step back and see if this is really what we want - there have been too many arguments lately, the stress is building up and the logistics of it all are harrowing. How many people meet, fall in love, move across the ocean and get married all in a year?
Ha ha. April Fool's!!
