Sigh not, but look forwards

"When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight."

Where did June go?!

Tomorrow is July 1st, aka Canada Day (office is closed! woohoo!)... I don't think I saw June fly by at ALL. Damn elastic time - why can't it bleddy slow down when you're having a ball, and speed up when you're miserable? Mutter.

I had to take a pic of myself this morning:

No laughing at my bad hair, mmkay? Or you die.

OMG my dogsitter just called, he had a "falling out" with a psycho at the grocery store this morning - a woman had tied her dog outside while she went in shopping for some food and the dog wouldn't stop barking, so this freak on the sidewalk unleashed the dog -who promptly ran into the grocery store and caused a ruckus, you can imagine!

Dog gets taken outside by employees and tied up again, my dogsitter is watching all this happen. Then the freakoid unties the dog a 2nd time, again it runs into the grocery store and this time my dogsitter caught it, brought it outside, tied it up and then grabbed the arsehole by the arm and let him have it!!

Apparently it was so loud and close to fists that the whole store was applauding after the moron left, the dog owner finally showed up and she was shaking, she had no clue this was happening and was very grateful that someone stood up and did something about the situation.

FFS. What is this world coming to, when complete strangers see fit to untie people's dogs so they are free to run away, get hit by a car or get lost?

What's next, offering pets poisoned treats in public parks?

Oh wait... they aleady do that in Toronto :-(

Pissing rain

Yep, what better way to spend a weekend except bathing in clammy rain? Everything is sticky, paper is saggy soggy, my hair looks like a brillo pad, the dogs are damp and smell like ass, youpee doo dah.

We did manage to have brunch with friends and run some errands on the way back, so that was fun... Vegas is now out with the boyz and I'm at home doing laundry, trying not to rip this clammy skin off my damn body - man, I feel bad for people with arthritis, they must be suffering through hell!

All this on top of PMS and a bad six hours of sleep last night. The euphoric effect of my bacon-and-pancakes lunch has dissipated and I'm walking on razors right now, trying to resist the urge to just drink until I fall down dead drunk and pass out for 12 or so hours.

You have NO idea how tempting that is at the moment.

None.

/end of Waste Of A Weekend post/

This Saturday morning

I sit and sip hot coffee
Glancing outside only to notice
Stupid gray skies
Again
Why won't they just eff off?
This isn't England! I protest
To deaf ears
As Vegas is out with the doggies
Morning ablutions
Stretch
Sigh
Yawn
Time to hop in the shower
Get ready for whatever
This day throws at us
Rain and all
Raaaaargh!

Dare to go

Friday update

Big Melonhead: still sore and limping today, no change from yesterday. I'm not liking this. Crap.

Weather: sticky, muggy, foggy, gray, low thick grey clouds, pure caca. And this for the next week or so. Crap.

Sleep: was ok, feeling groggy this morning even after coffee. May need a caffeine transfusion. Crap.

Mood: Take a guess, any guess. Yeaaah that's it.

**howevah**

It's Friday so thank jeebus for small blessings. I feel a bottle of red wine coming on for tonight and hopefully many sleep hours this weekend, not much else to do in this shitty weather. Still waiting for the storage unit so we can empty out the piles of boxes wasting space in the living room, I'm getting claustrophobic and for sure getting on Vegas' nerves for it. Sigh.

More chockit reviews from coworkers:

Dove Milk: one liked it, one spit it out mid-mouthful.
Dove Dusk: one loved it ("excellent"), one said it was ok.
Dove Dark: one didn't like it ("cheap dark"), one said it was excellent and inhaled the whole thing.

So I'm about done blogging about the Dove experiment except for the occasional "mmm guess what I'm eating right now!" tease... if any of you want to click on this four-question survey to help out matchstick.ca (the marketing company that send me the motherload of chockit), that would be awesome.

Cuz next time I might get to test-drive a Mercedes. He he.

First impressions on the Dove!

So here is a taste test report from a colleague of mine, a choco-fanatic who was more than happy to participate... he cracks me up!

a) nice packaging, very elegant and slick, I have a tendency of thinking this is targeted towards women

b) At first glance, the Dove logo reminds us of the soap, so one might think it is special soap with chocolate aromate, you look twice at the package before opening or buying it.

c) nice packaging holding 4 pieces, which are of a good size... excellent

d) message inside the foil is a good idea> Have Secrets, Use High Thread count sheet, take a long lunch

e) Milk chocolate, smells good, creamy, good taste

f) Dusk, we can taste the difference, more chocolate taste to it, good as well...

g) Dark, more cocoa in taste, but still not the darkness we would expect, it feels like there is still a remnant of milk chocolate in there. It feels very creamy, like we don't necessarly get the full flavor of the chocolate...

In general, I think it is good chocolate, wrapped in a super nice packaging.

LOL! What better feedback could a marketing company ask for?! *applause*

Vegas and I just stuffed our faces with pieces from the 3 large bars, urp, I feel a little sick to be honest... PMS girl can only take so much in one sitting. But here goes our reviews:

Milk chocolate: very creamy, melts in your mouth, weak chocolate taste, a bit too sugary. Would not buy it.

Dusk (blend of milk and dark): excellent! texture of milk chocolate but with a boost of nice cocoa flavour, stronger in taste so you *know* you're actually eating a chocolate bar vs a candy bar. Will definitely buy!

Dark: has an identity crisis. Creamy but a bit dry; hard to identify the taste at first but after you finish chewing a piece you then get the taste of a dark chocolate, minus the bitterness. So the taste pleasure experience seems a bit cut short IMO. I'm not sure I would buy this; Vegas would not eat it again as he is a dark-chocoloate lover and this lacked the texture and bitterness that he likes.

So there you go... anybody else agree or disagree?!

Worried mama

The big melonhead has been limping the past few days, it's not terrible but I'm a bit worried... you don't want knee surgery on a 145 lbs dog, trust me. Sigh. I hope it's just a sprain and not a ligament tear or anything - we'll keep him on leashed walks for a few days and see how it goes... good vibes needed, pretty please?

Besides that, life is chocolatey good... have handed out trial packs of Dove to four happy colleagues now (he he brownie points!), let's see what they say.

Vegas and I tried the Dark chocolate last night, it was nice but he wouldn't buy it and me, am not so sure. However the Milk chocolate I snarfed down an hour ago was yummaaay - reeeeerr!

I'll post a full review & comments in a day or so, and hey a new poll - why the hell not? Seems many of you already know Dove so that should be fun. Either that or a poll on spinach, am not so sure... he he.

It's hot and sticky again today, the skies are bleak and I don't really give a crap, despite the toss n'turn night of bad sleep. Mleh. Took me forever to wake up this morning but when I finally managed to unglue an eye, there was my bed tiger purring in my ear... how could I ever resist that hunk of man?!

*being late for work has never been so much fun*

Was that TMI? Yes?

Good. Mouahaha!

Do any of you own a latex mattress? Or have you ever slept on one? If so, I'd love your opinions and stories... not latex sexcapades, sleeping experiences! Doh.

The chocklit arrived today!!

(photo courtesy of the Dove Chocolate Lovers of Canada Facebook Group)

Woooo-hoooo-hooooo!!! Yeeeessss! I just got a giant box of Dove chocolates and goodies delivered to my office today, I was really taken by surprise at how much stuff there was! As you can see from the above pic, me is spoiled...

I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of 300 lucky canadian participants for a new kind of marketing campaign (yay for blogging about chocklit all the time, LOL): they send you goodies, you eat, you share, you tell them how you liked the product and spread the news.

Dat's it!

Soooo after I get home tonight and unwrap everything, I'm digging in... will leave some at work to share with my co-workers so they will loves meh, anyways the bag is too heavy to carry home as it is.

My gawd I never thought I'd ever say that... "it's too much chockit! I have to leave some behind!" *grin*

For the record, I have never had any Dove before so I hope it's good. One can never love too many kinds, right? Oh and I need to keep them locked away from Vegas... hims a choco-thief and would plow through everything if I left it on the coffee table. Whodathunk it?

Moooooonlight

"The night walked down the sky with the moon in her hand."
~Frederick L. Knowles

Read today:

Among the items on the menu for world leaders who met in June in Rome to discuss the crisis in world hunger: pasta with a sauce of pumpkin and shrimp, veal rolls, pastry puffs with corn and mozzarella, cheese mousse, Parmesan risotto, ragout of veal with legumes and zucchini pie, washed down with fine Italian wines.
[Washington Post-AP, 6-4-08]

Um, no rice and beans with fried grubs?...

/end of World Hunger Buffet Fail post/

I'm so done with that!

Done with being an ikea whore, that is... good gawd.

Three hours of torture yesterday in that giant box full of farting chavs, crying babies and babbling crowds, not to mention the interminable lineup at the register - the guys in front of us were paying in cash for a $11,250 purchase, FFS! With fifty-dollar bills! Never, ever get in line for cashier #13... lesson learned.

We did have to snack on the most awesome chocklit ever while waiting though (either that or faint from low blood sugar), Marabou mint caramel thingies, like a Rolo but the middle is soft melty mint caramel in awesome milk chocolate - reeerr!

Of course a few of those went in the basket too.

Home is starting to pull itself together finally, there is still a crapload of boxes, bins and furniture that needs to go into storage on July 1st but the most pressing things have been done now... at some point we will be able to relax. Not this week and maybe not the next but... soon!

Mmmm Vegas just made me a yummy french press coffee, since I'm stuck on a conference call it's so nice of him. He spoils meh!

Aren't we cute? *grin*

FFS!!

I just noticed we are dressed alike -

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

OK OK

It wasn't that bad! The drive was only an hour, it stopped raining when we got there and we all enjoyed a few laughs in the church... at the church... ya know ;-)

Home now, off with the dress and off to a nap! reeeeeerrr!

The things we do for family...

Vegas and I are off at 9am this morning to attend my brother's kid (my nefew??) baptism, oh lord save me from stabbing myself in the eye with a blunt pencil... not only is it raining and storming all day, but the drive is at least 1.5 hours each way - highway driving is like a mental enema - but we have to sit in a freaking CHURCH for an hour! What a waste of a Sunday :-(

Oh well it's brownie points in the bank for me, my parents both know how I loathe babies, being near them or talking about them, and how I loathe churches and driving even more. I am doing this for *them*, hopefully they'll get off my damn back now.

"Oh you have to meet x, he's such a cute baaaybe!" (there is NO such thing)
"You're hurting your brother's feelings!" (did he ask my permission before breeding? no? then shaddap)
"Make an effort!" (here I am, can you leave me alone now?)

Mutter. And I forgot my red shoes at work, so my dress outfit sucks, my hair is poofy on account of the fucking rain, and I don't want to goooooo!

Rain, rain, go away
Don't come back
Lest I chop your nuts off.

What we did this afternoon!

We took a break in the warm sunny park and met up with our new akita friends! Yey! From left to right... Kuma (girl, 16 mths old), Maika (girl, 2.5 years old), Sumo (boy, 4 months old) and Dakotah (ze boss, 4.5 years old). D & M are both passed out and snoring now, he he.

Busy-bee weekend

No rest for the wicked, as they say... sigh. I would have loved me a nice relaxing "no list" weekend but alas, it is not to be. Vegas' container from the UK has arrived and the appartment is a labyrinth of boxes, chaos reigns supreme.

Am trying to breathe through it all and not get freaked out by the mess, I know it's temporary - rather it's the dust and dog hair that bothers me, how weird am I?? Grrr.

Vegas is working like a horse to clean it all up, I hope he doesn't fall apart... a guy can only take so much.

We rented a storage space so that helps alot, it's only available next week though (of course), so on the meantime it's "turn a blind eye and focus on the important things", such as the scummy bathroom that needs a good scrubbing and the piles of laundry that need to get done.

Off I go!

It's The Hulk's dog!

Nature is more bizarre than any fabrication of man, let me tell you... and yes, this photo (and the dog, a whippet born with a genetic mutation) is real, it isn't photoshopped. I feel sorry for the poor girl, she must have a hard time finding anything to wear...

I know why I freaked out

Chaos. When there is chaos in my environment it clashes with the chaos in my head and that's when it all goes to heck... and that attracts Murphy's Law like nobody's business.

Cuz when things are going well they tend to compound, haven't you noticed?

Yeah.

Vegas was sweet enough to recognize what was happening before I did, and made an effort to tidy up the place after I left for work so when I got home I felt a bit more human in the cluttered shoebox. We took the kids out, ran a few errands then cracked open a couple of cold beers and chilled out for the rest of the evening, it was nice.

Oh and the effort was made to put clean fluffy sheets on the bed, reeeer! Makes all the difference in the world for me, sooo soft and scented, perfect for a good night's sleep... and a stream of really funny nonsensical dreams, LOL!

The clouds kept the rain to themselves while I walked to work this morning.

See? It really works!

I'm off on Monday so this is the eve of a 3-day weekend for me, can't be pissy now can I?... I have my Reese's Peanut Butter Cups on hand for chockit emergency, the street fair is on so I'll go stroll around at lunchtime, Vegas' furniture and personal stuff arrives soon so finally we will be "a home"... a real home.

After 10 long months, it will sure feel good to be breathe a sigh of relief.

Sigh.

Anger blows out the lamp of the mind.
~Robert G. Ingersoll

The pissed-off bitter doll is back

I wish I could make this shit up, maybe it would be funnier... at least to me. Remember Charlie Brown's "Pigpen" character? Well, that's me only it's a giant rain cloud following me around, not a dust cloud.

Last night we left work for our 30 minute walk home and it started pouring rain two minutes after we left the building, it stopped just as we got home, left me drenched with soaking wet feet. Awesome.

I then took the assclown dogs to the field where they normally run most nights of the week, and what did they do? They run away from me, had me tramping after them in tall wet grass for 30 minutes while yelling at the top of my lungs, and yes the fuckers heard me and knew damn well they were in for a beating when I got my hands on them. Every step I took my feet squished in waterclogged sneakers, I was tired, hungry and oh, so very not impressed. Next time they do that they will see Jeebus and stars when they come out of the coma.

They were exiled from the pack all of last evening, lucky to not have been dropped off at the SPCA from a moving vehicle.

Fuckers.

And so this morning was sunny and dry, and guess what happens when I am one block away from home on my way to work? It starts raining. Does the rain let up? Not until I am one block from work, of course... 30 minutes of misery, again wet feet and wet pants and bad hair - I want to bite the head off a bat.

If you don't believe the shit we've been enduring, I am updating my Bubblegum Snapshots blog this week with photos of Mademoiselle Nature's sicko sense of humour, check it out.

Anyhoo. I'm not gonna fake vanilla frosted butterflies and singing rainbows, as far as I'm concerned the majority of the world can fuck off today except Vegas, my blogger friends and the mailman if he brings me a box of chocolates.

Forgo the standard

I don't like standard beauty - there is no beauty without strangeness.
~Karl Lagerfeld

"just because"

No reason to post another pic of furkids, I just kinda miss them right now - hate being at work all day long while they are alone in the house. Life is too short for this crap... sigh.

Gratuitous midday giggle

A wealthy man and his wife were driving down the freeway in their new BMW when out of nowhere came a truck, head on.

The wife was thrown from the car and was laying along side the road while the man appeared to be unhurt. As a crowd gathered, another man stepped forward.

"I'm a doctor," said the stranger. "Let me take a look."

The stranger assessed the situation and said, "I'm afraid I'll have to give her artificial respiration."

"Don't you dare!" said the wealthy man. "I can afford the real thing!"

Who needs sleep meds?

Mother of dog, that Pinot Noir was awesome! Paired with fine fresh sushi at the end of a long day, mmmhmmm... we didn't even finish the movie we were watching, that's how dopey we got - what can I say, we're getting ooooold!

*grin*

My dad turns 59 today... It's a bit of a shocker. For me my parents have always been young, vibrant, strong - and now when I stop to really *look* at them and think of them creeping up to their 60's it freaks me out a bit. They look smaller. Their faces have more lines, their glasses are thicker. Their teeth are starting to look older. They don't move the same way. How much time do I really have left with them..?

On top of this sense of urgency that is settling in, all this makes _me_ older too... I don't like it, not one bit.

As soon as we get our place set up (no more boxes and bags scattered everywhere), I'm starting on that kettlebell routine with Vegas - need to tone up, build some muscle and stretch out those kinks in my back and shoulders. I want to stay young in body as well as in spirit and raaargh! I can do it, I can do it!

Plus, isn't she just so cute? She's only 8kg though (17.6 lbs) but I need to start smart and then we'll see what happens.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, VEGAS!

Photobucket

Today makes me a tad less of a cougar since Vegas is now only 4 years younger than I am, LOL! So far so good, sunny and humid (what else) so crossing fingers for no rain...

The lucky boy unwrapped his presents in bed this morning, and while we couldn't have breakfast in there too on account of it being too sloppy (pancakes with sliced caramelized maple syrup and amaretto bananas, crispy bacon, coffee and fresh OJ), it was pretty good: happy heavy tummies, yey!

He's too busy at work today with back-to-back meetings so the team lunch will have to wait a couple of days, which is fine by me. I'm too fuzzy headed to be interesting right now... *buzz buzz*. The kids are being taken care of this afternoon so we should have a lovely evening doing whateverthehell we like. Got an excellent bottle of red wine waiting to be drunk and food is Choice Of Vegas, we shall go where he likes and then for dessert, well! These things cannot be discussed in public, that would be rude :-D

*happy happy*

Oh by the way, this blog has a bunch of faithful deviants in its reader ranks... I say this with the biggest of smiles: based on the ongoing poll, we all have skeletons in our closets. Whether they rattle loud enough for others to hear is a whole other story though... what I would give to hear these stories!

Almost time for tea and work and all those happy things.

Last week's nose pickings

Cuz Mondays are a giant waste of time anyways, I looked up which keywords people used recently to land on my blog:

hot bubblegum flim
electric heated bra
viva la woman blog
deviation in moan by ee cummings
bubble gum porn
minimum wage workers
girly robots
crotch with panties
big sausage pizza - natasha nice
robot porn video
how to keep my border collie from licking
mccain deep and delicious
licking panties
fedde le grand alwys puts his hand nose
piece of ass
my life as a 10 age robot porn
long sausage pizza
unwrapping tools for wrapped bubblegum
german ascension dog
dog licking panies
big sausage pizza blog

...is it me, or does my blog seem to have a problem with panty licking, porn, ass, sausage pizza and gum?

I think I need a new tag line.

Monday needs a kick start in the arse

Does this look like anybody's day yet?

Yeah. I thought so!

So at 3:30am the A/C in the bedroom acted up again, it sounded like a gargling airplane so I switched it to fan mode to keep some air moving in the room - a few minutes later we were jarred awake by someone throwing rocks inside the unit, or it sounded like it... Vegas, the smart one of the pair, said "oh it must be ice that formed on the blades, it's melting now that the compressor is off and chipping away and hitting the fan" - ha ha, chip hit the fan!

At least now I know it's not the A/C engine that is fucked up and the whole thing makes alot of sense. Not alot of cold air though, but sense.

I wish sense cooled us down enough to get a good night's sleep. Sigh.

On another (more amusing) note, I received a cryptic text message from my ex this morning that contained two words: "holy shit!". Now I don't know about you but the things that sprung to mind are:

-his gf is pregnant... with twins!
-he won the lottery?
-Australia was hit by a giant earthquake!

...um, that's all I could come up with for now. I'm still so very curious though and hope to find out what's up later. As long as it's good news, I can't handle anything bad on a Monday. Merrr.

Club tropicana

Only the sexy golden pool boys are missing, oh and palm trees and white sandy beaches and coconut drinks with little umbrellas in them and - OK it's nothing like the tropics except for the hot, heavy, humid pounding sun - where are those forecasted thunderstorms? Pfft!

Our place is slowly coming together, we got the new TV up and running yesterday in time to watch a movie in the A/C livingroom... ahhh. The furkids certainly have it easy this summer - mind you, when it is 96F at 9pm at night, it's either that or die of heatstroke.

So yeah, Vegas and I got crackin' on the "to do" list, didn't have much choice: his furniture arrives next week so it's back to assemblage hell. Still, I can't wait to see his clothes NOT in a suitcase on the floor anymore!

(no more leaving! whhhoooohoooo!)

Life with him is just... awesome. There was no big "adjustment" to make like I thought there might be, we just slipped into a comfortable and easy-going groove that is even getting better by the day. We do most things the same way and like our living environment "just so", isn't that trippy? Who knows, I may have to drop the "Nag Queen" act altogether... :-D

My eye got a terrible itch, never scratch your eye violently while wearing mascara. Not only do you end up looking like you walked in a doorframe, you'll be stuck with pink-eye for two days.

UUGGHH!

Frickin' pollen, grass, whatever it is that itches up the eyes.

Where's my poolboy with the cold refreshing drink? Mutter.

City vs knight

"In the country the darkness of night is friendly and familiar, but in a city, with its blaze of lights, it is unnatural, hostile and menacing. It is like a monstrous vulture that hovers, biding its time."
~Somerset Maugham

Friday funny

A vacationing penguin is driving through Arizona when he notices that the oil-pressure light is on. He gets out to look and sees oil dripping out of the motor. He drives to the nearest town and stops at the first gas station.

After dropping the car off, the penguin goes for a walk around town. He sees an ice-cream shop and, being a penguin in Arizona, decides that something cold would really hit the spot. He gets a big bowl of vanilla ice cream and sits down to eat. Having no hands, he makes a real mess trying to eat with his little flippers.

After finishing his ice cream, he goes back to the gas station and asks the mechanic if he's found the problem. The mechanic looks up and says, "It looks like you blew a seal."

"No, no," the penguin replies, "It's just ice cream."

I am so spoiled

Although last night is a blur of yawns and mumblings, I do remember Vegas cooking dinner with me, a couple glasses of Fat Bastard merlot and a long amazing back and shoulder massage... I might have groaned and yelped alot at that point cuz I sure feel nice and bruised today (in a good way).

One more night of solid sleep like that and I've got my mojo back.

But not quite, yet.

This morning on our way to work we crossed paths with FOUR street gherkins looking for a handout. Two of them were smoking. Ya know, at $9 per pack of cigarettes, you have some nerve asking for breakfast money you jerk. In case you didn't notice, we are on our way to WORK all day for our pennies. Get a fucking job!

On that note I should get back to working, while sipping my 2nd coffee. Yep, it's gonna be another walking zombie day.

Shoot me up

What I would do for a shot of espresso right now... in a cup or intravenously, I don't care: just wake me UP!

What a looong day.

What a loooong sleepy greasy day - can't wait to scrub it off me in the shower, it's a two-lather night and hit me up with the vino, please!

We're supposed to go shopping for a new TV tonight (when men want toys...) but I'm finding it hard to breathe, let alone move. Groan. One night, I just need ONE night of GOOD sleep and I'm as good as new, I promise!

Just one.

/end of Yucky Doll post/

Air Canada? You suck!!

And that's about the extent of my feelings on the issue this morning - I have so many 4-letter words and expletitives to hurl at those motherf*ckers I don't know where to begin, so let's leave it at that.

*deeeeep breath*

I slept like 3 hours last night, and that's being generous.

Our mattress is crap, the room temp was crap, the loud radio inside my head was crap as are the pinched nerves in my neck and my knotted back - christ, I had to move to the couch in the middle of the night and half of it is taken up by piles of yes, you guessed it: crap from the dismantled shelves, so I had to curl up fetal to get a couple hours of weirdo sleep...

You'd think this would be enough to turn me into a rabid zombie by now, right? And yes, you are right. No sleep in 5 days makes TD a very irritable doll today.

BUT she's putting on a happy face anyways, still floating from all the amaaazing fucking incredible sex (oh Vegas is gonna kill me for this one! LOL! but it's my blog so nerr!), life right now is almost too impossibly good to believe it's really happening, you know? I find myself constantly looking over my shoulder wondering "ok where's the bad stuff, where's the catch, when will the "ha! fooled ya!" moment happen?" - yeah that's from bad conditioning, I admit it. And it sucks.

I guess time will shut those voices up and prove them wrong, once and for all - or I'll gag them myself! So yeah. Back to work now and back to pretending I am awake, alive and with the program.

Sigh. I need a hug today.

Shallow thoughts, by TechnoMelon

I feel like a parade float today, one shaped like a giant papier mâché watermelon, cut in half. With little pygmees in straw skirts dancing on my bloated pink belly. Yeah.

This cantaloup *does* taste funny, so Vegas it wasn't just your tastebuds.

I really am NOT in the mood for tonight's dinner at the dogsitter's. Sigh. Chore. I just want my jammies, my bed, my man cuddle and a looong sleep.

My fangs are showing today. I think I'm scaring people.

Oh and I despise airlines and their ploys to fuck with people's minds and their wallets. How can seat 26A cost $450 more than seat 26B, on the exact same flight, booked via the same travel agent on the same call? It's retarded! ARGH!

Up too early

I'm not used to this... alarm goes off at 6:50am and I wake up to an empty bedroom, Vegas is already out with the dogs at the park, the sun is shining and it's a lovely dry breezy warm morning: perfection!

If only I had gotten enough restful sleep, that is. *yawn*

I should get a coffee, eh? *yawns some more*. OK after I feed the dogs, I guess. I just want to crawl back to bed to kill this damn headache - it's been plaguing me for days, the mofo! Grrr.

The garden of Eve

"Gardens... should be like lovely, well-shaped girls:
all curves, secret corners, unexpected deviations,
seductive surprises and then still more curves."
~H.E. Bates, A Love of Flowers

Whatta STORM!

Whap bam thank you ma'am!

This one's been building up for a few days and boy did it ever come down in a black flash, the skies turned gunmetal gray and unloaded rain in whipping sheets, the tree in front of my office window snapped at the base and smothered both cars and the road - the city crews are just cleaning up that mess now... some poor bastard is going to return to his vehicle later today and wonder wtf happened to his smashed-up car - eek!

I'm praying no trees fell on our car at home and that the A/C unit is still working fine, I'm so worried about the poor doggies... Vegas keeps telling me not to worry, they'll be fine, bla bla bla - but what can I do? I worry!

Oh and my hair is all poofy from the awesome humidity. Every woman's dream.

It's sooo cool having Vegas working in his office just a couple doors down from mine... I still haven't fully realised that this is happening yet, you know. My arm's gonna have bruises from the pinching, how embarassing is that? I have butterflies in my tummy, FFS! It's been 10 months now, shouldn't these creatures be resting by now?

Back to work tomorrow - already!

Mmm, it's been an awesome past two days... where the end of a long wait collided with the beginning of a new life yet nobody got bruised, on the contrary :-D

The super muggy amazon swamp weather didn't stop us from chilling out cuz we got a portable A/C unit for the livingroom yesterday - finally the dogs don't have to be locked in the bedroom all day and neither do we, thank mug. I mean it was unbearable in here, breathing made you break out in rivers of sweat! And now that we both are back at work tomorrow and this heatwave is just not breaking, we just *had* to do something. Yey!

Oh and I became an Ikea whore today... *bows head in shame*. You know how it is. You go in for a bookshelf and come out with a crapload of boxes cuz hey, things just need replacing after a while and after all, this is a new life and we deserve nice things dammit.

We've got Ikeanitis in our hands, shoulders, back, everywheeere. Ow.

But oh, so many lovely things finally all coming together now. Yeah. We make a good team, I'm blissfully happy and feel like the luckiest woman evah!

Cuz... I am :-)

Awake... yet always dreaming

"If you want to make your dreams come true,
the first thing you have to do is wake up."
~J.M. Power

We're alive!

A bit tired and still in "disbelief" mode, gearing to deal with a hot sticky day, Vegas is jetlagged and I'm missing alot of sleep hours (too excited for brain to shut down), the dogs are doing better today - I think - and oh mon dieu, I have to keep pinching myself to make sure that yes, this is really real!

Sweltering last hours

Why this huge disgusting sticky heat wave had to happen the day Vegas finally arrives, I don't know. Why BOTH my dogs are super sick the day Vegas finally arrives, I don't know either.

What I do know is that there is not much I can do about the frigging weather, except take painkillers to try and beat this migraine down. Sigh.

At least I managed to install the window A/C unit in the bedroom so the furkids don't have heatstroke today, they feel bad enough as it is... I got them probiotics and have cooked up bland chicken and rice, am crossing fingers that small meal will do down without too many problems.

A person can only pick up so much crap on the floor without going mental!

OK off to bed for a well-deserved nap, yey cold room yey! The house is in decent order, the fridge is stocked and the car is clean, all I need to do later is clean the bathroom and tidy stuff up, drag the kids out of the "fridge" for a bio break and then woooot!

OMG!! This is really real!

Life changes in a big way as of tonight... poor Vegas was so nervous at the airport, he's ahead of me on the realisation part. I'm just coasting for now - I must be!

And now... here we are

"If you don't know where you are going,
you will probably end up somewhere else."
~Lawrence J. Peter

Dreary drizzle

Drizzle has got to be the worst kind of weather. Not enough guts to actually rain and get it over with, too wet to be misty so you *still* need an umbrella not to get wet - ugh, just... UGH.

I could very much do without all this dampness.

A few days ago I did a very good thing that I now regret. Was at the store with a lovely cashew butter chocolate bar in my hand, but at the very last moment while in line at the cash I put it away because guilt made me. At the time I felt very proud of myself... right now, I want to chew off my own hand, grrrr. 9:40am and I'm craving chocolate, wtf is wrong with me!

I guess I spent alot of energy bleaching the floors last night again, the funk just will NOT leave that back room aka dog poop central - and guess what greeted me again this morning? Yes. More fresh caca on those same cleaned floors, more doggy-doo footprints.

My bitch is stupid.

"Oh no I made a mess... well I better back up in it and track it all over the house again, since my artwork from two days ago has disappeared."

Can I have a break, please? Pass the Kitkat?

Harbingers of happiness

As promised, here is a (very bad, thanks to crappy office lighting) photo of the lovely roses Vegas sent me on a whim from overseas... I wish I had had my camera to capture them as I first unwrapped the beauties, it was fairytalesque - and yes, that is now a word!

The 3-foot long box they came beautifully nestled in:

The roses that bloomed overnight while I wasn't there:

I may be silly but flowers are exquisitely romantic, specially if given/received for no special reason... sometimes a "just because" is all ones needs to rekindle the soul.

Next year when we have our summer house? There will be flowers planted outside in every possible spot. Redemption for the cut blooms... it will be so good to see them grow wild and free every year.

/end of Yey For Romantic Men post/

One for you, girls!! (and gay boys)

...the best thing about this mid-afternoon snack is that YOU get to leave a caption... some drool... whatever you like ;-)

Still so very pretty

The roses have opened overnight and lost that dewey sheen, but now comes the sweetest scent from their silky petals... and yes I brought my camera to work so I'll post a photo tonight.

The skies have cleared up for the day, it's gonna be a scorcher - albeit just the beginning of a horrid humid heat wave, bleurh. Funny how delicate we are, when you think about it... there are only a few degrees between "too cold" and "too hot" - while on other plantets the temps fluctuate hundreds or thousands of degrees all the time. Pass the SPF 4500 and a polar-bear coat, please.

Day after tomorrow.

Vegas is here the day after tomorrow, and I lost my entire evening dealing with crap last night instead of getting things done.

First, I get home to my freshly-hoovered livingroom covered in a carpet of dried helicopter seeds - it seems that the giant tree in front of my balcony decided to drop its load just when the wind was blowing into my appartment, so through the open balcony door came the MESS all of yesterday afternoon.

Out came the broom and hand-plucking, which made me late for dinner at my dogsitter's place (he had taken the kids earlier).

I then walked to the kitchen for a glass of water before leaving and that's when "the smell" hit me... (click for more, this gets gross)

The back room floor was a lake of dog shit.

Honestly, I just wanted to sit and cry but that's when I noticed the brown dried doggy footprints leading from the back room aaaall the way to the front of the appartment... Yep, welcome to hell. Called my friend to warn him I'd be late, he just said "good luck! hope you have lots of paper towels!" - ghaaah!

So yeah, 30 minutes later and after 1.5 rolls of paper towels, half a container of Hertel and a bucket of hot water and the mop things were under control again, except for the stink molecules that just won't fuck off. Isn't fresh air supposed to make things smell normal again? WTF?

Tonight I need to wash the carpet and launder all the dog bedthings, who knows where that little bitch trampled...

I should have known this was coming after she stuck her face in the dead gopher on Monday and Tuesday night, uugghhh.

Sigh. Glad that's over, oh please let it be really over.

So then dinner at my friend's started late and just would not end, he got furniture delivered for his bedroom so that took some time to sort out... I mean the invitation was nice but come on, he knows I'm super busy and that Vegas is here in two fucking days, that I'm exhausted from work and getting home at 10pm with two starving dogs on a worknight is ridiculous - grrr.

Now my to-do lists are mocking me so I flipped 'em the finger, what more can I do? Am stuck here all day at the office earning the pennies, yadi yada - so frustrating, I want to be outside playing!

OK that's enough rambling and grossing y'all out for today (he he) - *takes deep breath* - onwards and upwards, as they say...

Oh. My. Freaking. GOD!!!!

I almost had a giant heart attack, thanks to my crazy Vegas...

Here I am plugging away at my desk, just an ordinary day, la la la... when the office guy comes around to deliver a 3-foot long, pretty polka-dotted florist's box - what?? For me?? What the...

Inside?

A dozen of the most superb, freshest long-stemmed red roses I've ever seen in my life.

I'm still reeling from the shock and surprise, mon dieu! It was hard to cut the stems so they'd fit into a vase but well, now they grace my desk and oh, did I mention they smell like heaven?

Tomorrow I'll bring my camera and take a photo, not that I'd ever forget this in a million years but it's good karma to share the love, eh?

Whatever I've done to deserve such an incredible man in my life... well I have no idea what I've done, I'm still in disbelief. And grinning from ear to ear. I feel like I've won the lottery!

And you know what? I have.

His name is Vegas.

Middday funny

Mission: eating the dove

Well I'll only start the mission when I get the chocolates next week, but I sure am looking forward to it!

This is a time when blogging for pleasure really hit the jackpot... I got an email last week from a lovely marketing lady who found my blog and its interminable mention of chocolates, she asked if I wanted free chocolates as a market tester and hah, you think I said no? *grin*

Should you qualify for our program*, we will send you your very own Dove® Pleasure Kit, including Dove® chocolate in all flavours and formats – for FREE!

So yeah, I'm chuffed. The goods should get here next week and I'll be sure to brag about it in full detail, hehe. And of course, to rate the tastebud orgasm value... I'm all about the oooohs and the aaaahs.

Last night laughed at me, btw.

I was wrapping Vegas' birthday gifts when I broke one, tried to fix it and made it worse, of course - awe HELL! Took me 30 mins to fix it and then it still looks like crap, I'm so embarassed. I hope he won't mind too much... and yes this was *before* the wine. Then I ran out of tape halfway through the job - awesome!

So I then gave up and celebrated the fiasco with two glasses of gorgeous red wine (Piat D'Or, my current favorite that I can only get in the province next door, thank you Quebec gov'ment asses).

This weekend's forecast: swampy, hot, muggy, wet, sticky, hellish suffering.

Welcome home, Vegas.

Life, wisdom and the like

"The philosophy of mine earth can be summed up as this: Sunshine creates happiness, and I create myself. Nights are long and life is predominantly good. Wind is refreshing. Tea is wisdom. Do the best you can, and be good to yourself so that you can above all be good to others." ~Jessi Lane Adams

Read today:

Triumph International, the Japanese women's underwear company, released its latest publicity-seeking creation in May: the solar-powered bra, with enough exposed panels to power an iPod or cell phone.

Other Triumph specials include a baseball bra (with fielder's-mitt-shaped cups) and a heated bra (with microwavable gel pads to warm the cups). [Reuters, 5-14-08]

I want that heated bra - I'm sure that Japanese inventor must have spent a winter in Canada to come up with that one!!

The breather

I could have blogged last night but it would have been a giant rant n'pity fest, so I thought best to leave it alone, get a good night's sleep and hope that in the morning things would be better.

And they are, even if some lingering vestiges of blah need to be stomped out.

Never, ever head into a heated discussion when both you and your partner are flat-out exhausted, mmkay? It leads to short temper fuses, misunderstandings through limping communication and then bam, verbal sparring that leaves you battered, bruised and ready to end it all at the drop of a hat.

Yeah. Good thing I wasn't wearing a hat.

And thank allah I have a very patient and understanding man, once he's gotten some rest that is... sigh. I've really struck gold.

*blush*

Today is another wet gray day, more of the same. I slept like a rock yet am still walking in a daze, I still can't believe I made it out of bed and into work in one piece. I feel like part of me is left behind somewhere. Oh look, there's TD's ass on the sidewalk, wanna play kickball?

Thought of the day: How much rain could a rain cloud rain if a rain cloud could rain rain?

The delicate balance

"Who will tell whether one happy moment of love or the joy of breathing or walking on a bright morning and smelling the fresh air, is not worth all the suffering and effort which life implies." ~Erich Fromm

On freedom

"Give to every human being every right that you claim for yourself."
~Robert Ingersoll

Monday morning mistake

I'm tired, I'm cranky and I've just suffered through two back-to-back days of downpours... My mistake this morning? Looking at the freaking weather forecast.

Showers, showers, rain, partly sunny, showers, showers. And then maybe we'll be back to normal average temps amid the clouds.

So far, June doesn't bode very well in terms of happy summer weather.

Mutter.

Best. Concert. EVAH!!

Just got back from a gig by The Presets and although I just shortened my lifespan by two months due to brain damage (too much head banging) and loss of hearing (this one went waaay past eleven), holy SHIT was it ever awesome!

I need a new word that is more better than awesome, but it's half past midnight, my ears are ringing and I have to be up in six hours for work. Bleh.

It was a small venue so it made everything that much more electric, like a huge party where every single person is just jumping, grinding, screaming and whistling and singing and the band (well, the two guys) are in your face, we were a few feet from the stage sitting on the bar so we had the best view with no armpits in our faces or elbows digging into our sides, he he!

Good lord, I hope this ringing in my ears subsides or I won't be able to sleep.

I'm too old for this.

But fuck it - I had an awesome time, it was the perfect end to a really fun weekend, the only thing missing was Vegas - he would have LOVED it! Hope these guys come back some day, I'll bring earplugs next time though.

Ow. Ow. Ow.
