Today has finally arrived!!
Six long weeks of waiting have finally melted away, Vegas is on a flight he's on his way he's here sooooon! Tra la laaa!
My lovely friend D even dropped dinner for two off at my place this morning on his way to work, he's so awesome that way... he knew we'd be too whacked out to cook and the weather is shit so no going out (who wants to anyways?) - gosh I'm spoiled!
I doubt I'm celebrating Christmas at all this year, unless it's an impromptu friends group dinner or something. Am pretty much working all the time and I can't be bothered to decorate, anyways I'm off overseas for New Year's so my attention is focussed on that. Very focussed, hehe.
Oh crap, I still have to call my brother today. Sigh.
Later, I'll do that later.
One fun factoid before I go, you fingernail biters will love this one: Your fingernail has the same ingredients as fly poop. Bon appetit! :-)

Am I normal?!
So I became an auntie for the first yesterday...
...And I'm still waiting to feel happy for my brother.
I mean I'm happy that he's happy to be a dad now, but hell. A screaming stinky baby in the family now. Great. I don't care who they belong to, they give me hives and I want nothing to do with them.
I feel no joy at this turn of events and can only see myself not attending family events anymore if said bundle of diapers is there.
My dad and other brother are going to visit this weekend and I was asked to come along, if I wanted to (via a voicemail left on my phone). Over my dead body would I want to - shudder. Just happy to have Vegas here the next few days though, it gives me a polite excuse to decline cuz I don't want the truth to be known... I suspect my mom knows how I feel though, but still - I will be labeled as the cold-hearted bitch.
I suppose I'll have to call my bro tomorrow to congratulate him. Sigh. I hate lying and being fake, it makes me feel even worse than to be the said cold bitch and telling the truth "hey man I feel sorry for you... stuck for the next 18 years. Hey good luck with that".
My question to you all was... am I normal to have such a distaste for babies and children? To the point where I will avoid family gatherings so as not to be forced to hold the thing or coo over it or buy it stupid presents? Are there others out there like me who feel sorry for the breeders?
Why do people feel the need to procreate anyways? Sigh. Give me puppies and my freedom, and I am happy.
Being an auntie already sucks. Ghah!

Too excited to post!
I'd just be blabbering gibberish anyways. Well, mostly.
Proof that I am losing my mind is my stop at the grocery store last night... frozen yogurt and a pillsbury chocolate-chunk cookie-tube thingie. I'm sorely tempted to mash both up together and call it dinner... but it's too bleddy cold out, I need wine.
I wish the dogs didn't need to go out tonight. Dammit!

Two more dodos
Two more nights of starfishing in my bed... and then Vegas is here. I think I'm about to faint from happiness and excitement!
I love him! I love him! I looooove hiiiiim!
Er, sorry... got carried away there for a moment. Am bubbling over a wee bit... but can you blame me for being happy that my love and soulmate is finally here after six long weeks?
LDR's suck. Sigh.
Oh! I have news! Imagine that after years of searching I finally found my best friend from when I was like 10 years old... through Facebook! My god... I have so many questions for her I don't know where to begin.
She was my first friend in the new town we moved to after my parents divorced, this was in 1979... aaages ago. How I adored her, and her amazing parents who just took me under their wing - her house was a small paradise compared to the hellhole I was stuck in with my brothers. She knew more secrets about me than anyone else, we danced in her livingroom to Dolly Parton, climbed trees and scraped knees, built snow forts and staged plays in her yard, I could go on and on - sweet memories are flooding back now and I'm grinning like an idiot.
And best of all... she didn't forget me after a quarter century.
Yeah... I'm old now... but love will keep me young forever.

Been tagged for a meme by daszzle so here goes... 7 random things about about me, none that are earth-shattering:
1) I have my four wisdom teeth but you'd never know it on account that I color my hair.
2) Knock on wood, have never broken a bone nor had any kind of surgery.
3) Clowns creep me out.
4) In kindergarden I once stole a bag of chips and when confronted by the teacher who wanted to smell my chip breath, I smacked her on the forehead with a wooden block. I still remember the big blue golfball she sported for a week - and the ass whoopin' I got from dad. Good times!
5) I am addicted to online scrabble (who isn't?).
6) Got married at 21, divorced 5 years later - me and ze Germans just don't mix!
7) In my teens I once modeled at a fashion show for hair... oh, the cans of spray net... and our "dresses" were made of ripped up black garbage bags. I'm glad nobody lit a match.
So this was fun! Anybody wants a turn, be my guest... Just let me know so I can go read your secrets :-)

A taste of things to come
Once you're in the thick of winter, you don't really scrutinize the weather channel as much. Yes there will be snow and yes it will be cold, but hey - every day is one closer to spring, right?
But when you're making the crossover from "dry land" to "no man's land", well it sucks for the most part.
Kinda like when you're stuck in the rain without an umbrella, you make mad dashes from dry spot to dry spot until at some point you say "aw screw it" and just enjoy being soaking wet - ya know?
I'm just praying that Thursday's predicted snow is kind to us and doesn't mess up the airports. If Vegas' flight gets delayed or whatnot, I'll be a nervous wreck.
Oh I pray to thee Gods of Good Weather Karma!! Please be kind and merciful!

I need new good blogness
If anyone can point me to some really well-written, witty, fun, colorful and inspiring blogs to feed my candy store (aka brain), then by all means please drop me your favorite links... and no full-of-advertising and money-making blogs, please. Those hurt my eyes.
Good blogs are so hard to find.
Why is that?
The icy rain has turned to soggy snow, a month too early if you ask me. We are so going to get bitch-slapped the next few months... skiers rejoice, the rest of us just curse and mutter our way through shoveling cars out of snowbanks.
Not everyone has indoor parking.
So VW Canada has lowered their prices on some models to match the US market. Awesome! Just too bad their cars suck though... still loved my Golf even if it cost a fortune in repairs all the time. Why are German cars made in Mexico anyways? Pfft.
My next car is so gonna be a cheap 2nd-hand American that will get run to the ground by the muddy dogs. I am so done with expensive monthy car payments... sigh. Feels like a financial jail if you ask me.
G'nite peeps.

Yay, new posts are up in my favorite blogs - one lousy holiday weekend and everybody disappears. As if turkey and stuffing was that interesting - pfft! *he he*
One Monday I don't mind
Normally a gray wet Monday like today would just set me on edge with mighty blehs, but this week... it's the beginning of a short countdown 'till Vegas gets here. 3 days... seems unreal. Even more unreal is that he's flying from the UK for a too-short 4-day visit.
And screw the jetlag!
I'm all set for cooking, too... got everything we need to eat at home, it's fun to spend time together in the kitchen with a glass of wine and music, and then bask in the tantalising aromas that fill the house.
On the menu: rich meat lasagna with spinach and loads of cheese, home-made quiches with garlic-roasted mushrooms and spinach, fresh green salads... dessert is white cake topped with frozen vanilla yogurt and warm pan-baked apples in butter and maple syrup.
Why am I hungry all of a sudden? LOL!
We have a brunch with the gang planned for Sunday, so yeah we will get out of the house other than for taking the kids out for their walks and field runs.
I hope he brings warm winter boots... gonna get kickass cold in a few days. Sniff.

Sunday's fun factoid
There are only four words in the English language which end in "-dous": tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, and hazardous.
Funny, I can link all of these words to either drugs, sex or first dates, LOL!

Sleep = good stuff
Mission accomplished for the weekend: finally caught up on missing sleep and feel ready to attack the week. Raaah!
The day has been mostly gray and blah, perfect for mopping floors and doing laundry. Then the sun came out for a bit so I took the kids for a romp in the woods, which promptly muddied up all the floors again. Of course.
Why do I even bother? Let's all live in a pigstye!
This afternoon has been a TLC marathon on obese people, oh my god it's nasty - how can a person let themselves get so fat, they can't get out of bed for years? Effing hell! No pizza or twinkie roll tastes that good, give me a break! *shudder*
Speaking of junk food, I made Kraft Dinner for lunch and promptly got a violent stomach ache a few minutes later - guess the leftovers are going in the trash and so are the other boxes in the cupboard. Do you think the "best before" date of July had anyting to do with it..? I mean does processed cheese powder really go bad?
I guess it can. Rolaid, please!

Just a brainless Saturday
Did you know that you burn more calories sleeping than you do watching television? It's a fact. Hence, I'm skipping the movie and going to bed soon, feels more productive in a way. Been busy all day and now? Online scrabble, glass of wine and a goodnight kiss to my lover. Meow.

*yawn*
Well that was an uneventful Friday night.
Played in the bittercold field with the dogs, then had a friend come over for another crash course of Raw Feeding for Dogs 101, her boy's on day 6 now without a hitch so we moved from premade patties to whole chicken - crossing fingers that goes well too.
After that my mom called so we chatted for a bit, wow 9pm before I could reheat a canned soup in the microwave (I'm so classy) and then feed the dogs and win a few more online scrabble games - did I just get called a ScrabsWhore? heeeey! - and now I just finished bathing the big bean, whew.
I'm lucky that he's so awesome in the tub, though. He just hops right in and doesn't move the entire time I'm lathering him up, unless I ask him to move forwards or backwards. And yes I get right in there with him, it's a tight space cuz he's pretty big so if he moved he'd knock me over the side of the tub and I'd likely crack my head on the tile floor. Gooood booooy. He does love being white and clean though...
Can you tell I'm sober? LOL
No booze for this girl tonight, just chocolate. I can hardly see what I'm typing through the blurry yawns.
Six days to heaven / 8,400 minutes.
Good night, fellow travellers.

Fucking smokers! Ghah!
Is there anything worse than being stuck walking behind a smoker on a narrow slippery sidewalk with ice-cold wind blowing in your face? Specially when said smoker is too cold to even suck on the twitstick and is just holding it until it burns out, polluting your space?
Violent coughing didn't work, nor did trying to walk faster.
Oh good, red light... when it turns green I'm gonna sprint ahead and put him behind me. But no, moron jogs just long enough to overtake me and then again I'm stuck. Rah!
So I slow down and take freezing to death over choking to death, finally there's space between me and "it". Cool! Until another smoker comes out of a bar and does the same spiel.
Yep.
25 minutes of that crap after work today, trying to get home.
I can't wait for cigarettes to go for $30 a pack.

And not pick one.

Almost there!
Almost Friday night... praise allah and buddha and everyone in between! And althought I might feel like this lady, I'm very grateful to have a bit more, er, color at my desk:
Very disappointed by the ending for Mr. Brooks, I feel cheated of a story that makes any kind of sense. Effing Hollywood and their wussy script writers. Give me Stephen King anyday! Bah.
The land is one frozen icecake today, how bland. Winter's not even "really" started yet and I'm sick and tired of it. Maybe I just need to thaw out with a weekend of hot sex... yeah, that would work. Six more days to go 'till the jackpot bells start ringing again. 9,240 minutes, give or take a few. Seems like an eternity.
I can do it, I can do it!
Nobody else seems worried that the price of gas has skyrocketed for no good reason at all. I'll bet if MacDonald's doubled their burger prices there would be a mass uproar and we wouldn't hear the end of it - priorites, I guess.

Never thought I'd say this, but...
I'm bored.
Bored.
Bored.
Bored.
Too shitty outside to go anywhere, too tired anyways. The kids have been fed and brushed, they're napping now... Nobody's online and I really don't feel like doing any chores. Don't feel like reading or watching TV either. Meh.
Guess I should finish watching that damn movie (Mr. Brooks). Sigh. At least I have the dregs of a bottle of red to keep me company.
Big sigh.
Vegas, I miss you like hell.

The dot over the letter 'i' is called a tittle.
I dunno why this makes me giggle, but it does :-D

Ow. ow ow ow.
"Dear little pieces of sharp ice falling from the sky,
Kindly do not attempt to gouge my eyes out as I walk the dogs in the cold wet early morning slush. Enough that I am dealing with cars spraying brown salty wet snowcrap all over my coat and feet.
Thank you."
Ah well, it's gonna melt anyways, too early for it to stick around. Woo! I'll just have two hot chocolates today, to compensate. Mouah ha ha haaaa!
Happy birthday Cocotte!!! In case you're reading this!!
Slow day at the office, the States are on their turkey holiday (stranded flights and all). Vegas is upset that Finland never got any daylight today, I shall think of him as I bake under the tanning lamps again tonight. Yum. He's here in a short week! *thrills run down my spine*
Kay. Work. Gotta get to it. Ciao!

Good grief
Been too busy today to blog, it feels weird.
This morning I went for a 1.5 hour shiatsu massage and I've been saying all day "it didn't do anything! I didn't feel it!" - well I'm eating my words for dinner cuz my back hurts like a motherfacker. So yeah, she was good :-)
Work was consumed by meetings with my boss and then trying to catch up on my short day, and of course... chatting with Vegas. Damn Finland and their 7-hour time difference with Montreal! He's in bed and I'm not even out of work yet, how's that for sucky?
*rants*
BTW I don't mind the snow, if it comes down at all (Prin, don't choke). It's the freezing drizzle and rain that gets to me... this morning I slipped on the sidewalk and almost landed on my arse, no snow to cushion my fall. So yeah it does have its advantages.
Can anyone explain to me why gas is suddenly over $1.15/litre in Montreal?! WTF? I'll soon be too poor to drive to the gas station to fill up!
What else... oh yeah. My stupid bitch (I can call her that, she is a dog after all) ate my wooden sofa leg this morning, while I had my back turned eating breakfast. Yep. I've had it all of two months now and finally just paid it off and mademoiselle all of a sudden decided to beaverize it, "just for fun". I should make her taste the luxury of a night at the SPCA "just for fun" and see if she reconsiders her hobbies after that.
I'm beat, my back is throbbing so I'm off to a steaming hot shower. Boys, get your minds out of the gutter.
Oh, and today's useless (but interesting) factoid: A snail can sleep for 3 years.
In my next life, I'm coming back as a slug.

OK snow ain't bad
The kids had a blast in the field, they're really made for snow. It was very peaceful out there tonight with the moon playing hide-and-seek with the clouds, it gave my soul a much-needed rest after this crazy stressful workday. Yeah.
Dinner the past few days has been wine and chocolate. Decadent? Maybe... I fit into my pants again so I'm a happy bint.
Who the hell is reading this crap anyways?
Hello? Is anybody out there?
...This doll is clocking out early tonight, not much going on and I need to finish watching "Mr. Brooks", it's not too shabby so far except for Demi Moore's face that doesn't move when she's screaming.
Peace, out.

I'm speechless
"Lucky me!" ~sarcastic Ed
The first dregs of winter are the hardest to get through (well that and the last bits in April).
Woke up this morning to blowing freezing wet slushy snow messing up the streets and turning umbrellas inside-out, blinding people and causing general mayhem - ghah how gross!
I could only manage to take the kids around the block for a bio-break, and boy did I ever get dirty "mom you suck!" looks after I dragged them back up inside in my rush to get to work. Dogs can sulk sooo well, they should be nominated for freaking oscars.
Then came the Big Mistake:
I hoped that public transportation could get me to work on time. What a joke. First the subway stalled for 20 minutes because of "an incident" up the line, and if you take subways at all you know that people keep pouring down the stairs until a tin of sardines looks like a better place to be in... Everybody in warm winter coats covered in wet snow, it's a stinky sauna. BLEH.
After cramming into a putrid car and getting my ribs squashed by sharp elbows and struggling to breathe, I finally get to the station where I take the bus to get to work.
I should have known my misery wasn't over yet.
After a long wait, a very full bus pulls up. Turns out it got hijacked by a kindergarten class going on some crazy field trip. Awesome! A tin can of germs and screaming kids on wheels! Half the people waiting in line couldn't get in because of these little snot monsters, I got lucky and was the last one on board - I think I jumped out half a block before my stop while the bus was still rolling, the lesser of two evils.
So the trip took me almost an hour. I could have crawled to work on hands and knees faster.
Welcome to winter!
BLEH.

The garden of love
"Don't worry about losing. If it is right, it happens - the main thing is not to hurry. Nothing good gets away."
~John Steinbeck, 10 November 1958
Not much to say about today
I finally got in touch with a supposedly-awesome massage therapist who was recommended by my chiro, I go Wednesday morning for a 1.5 hour session of shiatsu, with lessons on how to manage the back pain and do correct stretches tailored for my needs. Am very much looking forward to it... finally some relief in sight.
Having a month-long headache sucks the big cactus.
How is it that an ordinary conversation with someone can take a nosedive in three sentences, and then you're left questioning your life and feeling lost on the lake without an oar? I could do without times like these.
Relationships are hard work, that's a given - but well worth it when you've met your soulmate. However I wonder: how much of yourself should you give up to make the other person feel accepted and loved? Won't that eventually come around to bite you in the ass? Or does it get easier with time? The more I wonder, the less sense it all makes.
I better not fuck this up or my friend N will kick my ass all the way across the St-Lawrence river. Twice.

New poll is up!
Your answers to last poll's question: If you could afford plastic surgery... would you?
Yes, I would like to change a few things on my body 42%
No, I like my body just fine 26%
No, I'm too chicken 21%
Maybe later, not too sure just yet 11%
The numbers speak for themselves... seems like body dismorphia is more wide-spread than ever. Thanks for nothing, Hollywood and photoshop!

Makes sense to me!
It was illegal to sell ET dolls in France because there is a law against selling dolls without human faces.
In the 1983 film "JAWS 3D" the shark blows up. Some of the shark guts were the stuffed ET dolls being sold at the time.
...hum, rejects from France end up in Hollywood? Yay for recycling, 80's style!

Divine Diva
The kids had their 2nd playdate with their argentine dogo friend Diva yesterday morning... boy did they ever have a blast! The girls played well together (albeit for a little skirmish over a tasty piece of poop in the field) but the two white beasties were the superstars - they truly hit it off!

I survived the night
Or rather, I survived the insecurities plaguing me all night, after a long blue week. Did I mention I have low self-esteem, despite all the fluff? Yeah. It sucks.
Vegas was at a party and having a good time, as he should be - while I hadn't planned a Saturday night and sat at home moping and vegging, trying very hard to be calm about imaginary monsters.
It's not his fault that alot of my exes "strayed" while at parties where I was not, and I trust him with all my heart - no reason not to. No man ever took the time to call or text me while out partying, but Vegas... sigh. He's my perfect eleven. Every couple of hours he'd go outside in the freezing cold to get cellphone reception and chat for a few minutes, it made me feel so special and safe... hard to explain.
Been going through loads of changes lately, adapting to living alone and building a new routine, juggling two jobs at work, learning to trust in love again slowly but surely - it should be easy, right?
It's exhausting.
Vegas has challenged everything I used to take for granted or "as is", as known. I was so done with love... ready for a break to regroup my senses, get to know who I am, to spend some time either facing my monsters or creating some new ones, who knows?
Then love chose us in the middle of the chaos, and here we are. United, together for better or for worse.
It's a strange experience to build your future on a quasi-virtual basis... by that I mean we live an ocean apart and have only really spent a short 3 weeks together these past months, the rest has been phone, chat, email, text, webcam... Technology rocks but it can never replace warm human touch, scents, the non-verbal communication of just "being".
Sigh. He's so patient with me.
I'm not sure what the point of this post was, or if there was one to begin with. I feel worn out and flatly blue and just... blah.
Am trying to be positive and think of all the wonderful things on our path, just wishing things could happen faster I guess. Fucking hell I miss him, and we just hung up the phone for the 2nd time today.
Am I hopeless? WTF?

Last night rocked!
MartiniGirl, you'd have been proud of us *grin*
Two girls managed to polish off a bottle of raspberry vodka (ok there was a tiny bit left at the end of the night), all shaken up into a flurry of crantinis while Funboy just sipped soda cuz he was driving so no drinking, but no matter cuz he's a permanent huggabear goof and needs no booze to be hysterical.
You know you're drunk when you webcam your boyfriend in the UK at 11pm, knowing it's 4am there but who cares cuz he was even more hammered than we were, LOL!
Ah yes, the life and times of people stuck in cold climates... We all had a good laugh, it was *almost* like he was here with us. Almost.
Sigh. 12 more days until he gets here for a long weekend.
Thank god he phoned to wake me up this morning though, or I would have been seriously late to get to the vet's to pick up my boy's thyroid meds... Everyone was disappointed that I didn't bring the big galoot along, they all love him to death there! But I had to drive out a fair bit out west to pick up a 2nd hand dog crate for my little peanut for her 2-week stay at my dogsitter's while I'm in the UK - crate is like brand-new and totally awesome, I am thrilled!
So yeah. Just had a strong latte and am stoned tired, OK maybe a little bit hung over... Huh.
No time to nap though, a friend is here in 30 minutes for her introduction to raw feeding (for her dog, not for her LOL). We'll do a run to the petstore to get supplies and all, should be loads of fun.
I am so totally vegging out tonight, planning a hot bubble bath and all. Meeeoooww.

Today's enlightening fact
Dentists have recommended that a toothbrush be kept at least 6 feet away from a toilet to avoid airborne particles resulting from the flush.
I keep my toothbrush in the living room now.

Friday freefall! Woo!
Oh! OH! I finally found a long-lost friend thanks to Facebook (aka faceass, as Prin would say) and I'm just so thrilled! He can't believe it either, he just joined a short while ago for work and bam! He got stalked he he.
We've alot to catch up on, oh I'm just so happy! He's married and is a dad, so we're all growing older but our spirits always remain young. Double woo!
Off to get sloshed now. Ciao!
Closing the poll this weekend...
...so y'all better giddyup and cast your votes, cuz right now it's pretty neck-in-neck, no pun intended. I promise.
I don't know about you guys, but for this Christmas: I gave up on shopping myself to death for presents nobody wants, needs or cares for.
My parents have everything they want and if they need something, well they go out and buy it. They were actually relieved when I told them "no presents", I mean holy cow has this holiday ever been commercialised to death. I much more value spending time with my friends and family throughout the year and would rather focus on that instead.
Yeah.
A few people will get a token gift, there will be bottles of wine and group dinners, laughter and love and fun but no mountains of gifts to plow through...
OMG, what a huge relief, specially since I have to work through the holidays and then am flying to the UK to spend two weeks with Vegas. Who has time to shop? Who has money to shop? LOL!
So that's my semi-rant of the afternoon. :-)

Full of Monster
The sun is peeking out of the clouds and I'm about to take a break from computer hell to get some air and some food. No idea what to eat though, am not hungry today. Oh wait, there's a monster in my tummy, that's why. Rock on.
Blue is not sky, but it is I
So tired.
Never can seem to get enough sleep, and last night was plagued by fucked-up dreams that felt so real, it was exhausting. Is that what I get for staying up too late and not drinking? Bleh.
I look great, I just feel like crap.
Besides that, life is beautiful! I got to wear my long warm winter coat today, so you know it's cold but I don't care... am going tanning after work, then spoiling myself with new shampoos, conditioners and shower gel (a lady's gotta have gazillions of bottles in her shower, don't you know?) and then fucking off for the Friday evening.
What does that mean? Oh, appletinis and more vodka shots and Ruffles with onion dip, why the hell not. My friend N's coming over tonight so I won't be a lonely lush, yay me! Since I can't have hot sex for another 13 days, I might as well drink.
Gonna stick my head in work now, going out for lunch in a bit and then flushing this day down the crapper. God give me strength!

The groaning whale
Yep, that's me. The bottomless pit has ceased being hungry and is tight in her pants today, oohhh why did I eat so much yesterday?!
Just finished a salad lunch (@2pm) and yes, I look pregnant. Ficken.
Why are grocery stores always full of dudes in the evenings? You know, those greasy scruffy duuudes that come in after working on engines all day to buy a case of beer, frozen chicken wings and cat litter for dinner but end up wandering the aisles to oggle women and check out their buns?
Yo! Get your own bread, buddy. If I wanted to date a loser like you I'd place an ad in "Hobo Weekly". Get lost.
My neck and shoulders hurt like a bitch from hauling loads of groceries up the stairs all the time... these dogs need meat and meat is heavy! Am trying to schedule a massage appointment for next week but keep playing phone tag with the masseuse... in the meantime I've microwaved a bean sock, er cereal tube, whateverthefuck you call those things? Magic Bag?
Anyways they stink, eh? Like a barn gone bad. Peeyoojesus. Specially since you have to wrap this contraption around your neck, the aroma just slinks up your nostrils with every breath... am trying to breathe through my mouth but that's just so annoying.
I wonder if Santa will bring me a sock full of coal for christmas. It can't be worse than the cereal sock.
Back to work... tralala... not everyone's lucky enough to be sick and stay home. Grumble grumble.

Today's factoid
Crocodiles and alligators are surprisingly fast on land. Although they are rapid, they are not agile; so if you ever find yourself chased by one, run in a zigzag line. You'll lose him or her every time.
Well, now I know what to do if the city streets are ever invaded by crocs and gators. I feel so safe now *grin*

Hell is brown
I feel I need to do a post "à la Prin" tonight... it's been one of those days.
Ended at 5pm, I stepped outside in the pitch darkness and to my dismay, it was raining. Not sprinkling but raining... and I forgot to bring an umbrella so walking home was out of the question. I decided to take the corner bus to the subway station, it's faster and 5 times cheaper than a cab and I'm frugal that way.
Well in theory it was smart....
Then starts the long wait for The Bus That Would Not Come. Rush hour people queuing up in the cold rain, how fun. 25 minutes later the bloated sardine tin finally appears, we all squeeze in, miserable piece of shit public transportation making my blood pressure rise - ghah!
Mercifully the ride wasn't long until the subway station, where the trains worked fine and I have no complaints... cuz I got to admire Mrs Potato Head standing next to me for a few stops. That was interesting.
Or she could have been a brown penguin - imagine one of those dressed up in brown? All brown. Brown shoes, brown corderoy 2-piece suit with a brown shirt tucked into waldo pants high up on the rounded belly, small saggy boobs pointing in two directions. Brown coat, brown scarf, brown bag, even the hairtie was brown. On dark brown hair. Face half-melted off her head, wobbly double-chin, beaked nose that kept on growing past its due date, a few moles, brown lipstick on thin sad lips and brown eyeshadow emphasizing droopy lids and baggy saggy crowsfeet.
In other words, a woman who gave up.
"Fuck trying to match anything! I'm a chocolate bar!" (nobody would associate brown with a dog turd, right?)
She was muttering to herself now and again, prolly asking Jesus out on a date or planning her next big bingo game. Sad, sad.
I got home and threw on pink pyjamas just to feel human again, had a dinner of cheese fondue with french bread and steamed broccoli accompanied by a glass of chilled rosé, then pigged out on a huge bowl of chocolate-caramel chip vanilla frozen yogurt drenched in Hershey's chocolate syrup.
This whale is going to bed soon. Hope I don't dream of brown hell.

WTF is wrong with people!
My dogsitter found a tiny chi mix abandonned in the park yesterday, tied to a tree. The poor thing had been there for hours, freezing and crying... At first he thought the owners were around so he didn't do anything, but when he walked by again later it was obvious some asshole decided to dump his "problem" on whoever else gave a shit.
Humanity never ceases to amaze me.
Luckily there are good souls around... my dogsitter brought the chi to an elderly couple he knows on his street, their small dog had passed away from old age a few months ago and they were contemplating getting another dog.
Talk about providence...
He asked them to keep the dog for the night, brought some food over and apparently it was love at first sight both ways - looks like the little guy got VERY lucky and has found a new loving home while bypassing the horrors of the SPCA. I guess this is how the universe keeps its balance, for every asswipe there is an angel picking up the trash left behind.
Such an unusually mild day, still dry and going up to 14C soon - woot! Of course it's just a blip, after that we suffer cold wet rain for a few days. It might actually inspire me to make cookies, hmmm... warm chocolate chip straight from the oven, with a tall glass of cold milk.
LOL my Friday evening is all planned out! *grin*

Give them the dumb!
One big void
I shouldn't even try to post when all my brain can handle is online scrabble, digesting cereal and missing Vegas. Watching "House" right now - why does someone always have to cough up blood?! gross! - and just vegging out...
Had breakfast for dinner, groomed the kids, caught up with my ex who's doing quite well now back in Australia (yay! so happy for him), and am ignoring the filthy bathroom that needs cleaning. Chores on a weeknight is just so... wrong. Sigh. I'm bored.
Should I have a glass of wine or a hot chocolate? Debate, debate.
a bit later
Well the rosé wine won that round... along with a bowl of slightly-burnt ketchup popcorn, yum! Oh and more Reese's chocolate. I am so going to the hell of fat hips. Why does everything that's bad for you taste so good? Raaaaah!

Robotty day
Basically just trying to get through the hours without dropping too many "fuck you"s today.
Am mostly feeling like that boat in Perfect Storm, you know when it gets the shit kicked out of it by the big angry sea slasher waves and torrential rain? Yeah.
Fuck you, phone. I am not answering your shrills today.
Fuck you, headache. I am not feeding you anymore useless painkillers.
Fuck you, sunshine that I cannot enjoy. I am pulling the blinds down on you.
Looks like I'm not doing too well with my initial resolve, eh? Oh well. This will teach me to run out of chocolate and coffee.
Bleh.
Am mostly feeling like that boat in Perfect Storm, you know when it gets the shit kicked out of it by the big angry sea slasher waves and torrential rain? Yeah.

Dave Gahan makes me happy
I just bought his new album Hourglass and it's sweet crack for my soul, I'm in heaven... can't ever be in a bad place with his delicious sexy voice in my ears, this man has been a huge part of my life (music and fashion wise) for over 23 years now... both with and without Depeche Mode.
He's supposed to marry me but hasn't woken up yet *grin*
Tonight is a crash night. As in I finish this post, prepare stuff for tomorrow, hop in the shower and... crash. So fucking exhausted and not sure why - even the kids are passed out on the floor, which is unusual. Meh. Must be something in the water... like the birth control thingie? Yeah. I live for conspiracies ;-)
G'nite peeps.

New poll is up
Last poll's question: Are you religious*? (*God, church, praying, etc.) You voted:
No, I do not believe in religion 56%
Sometimes, when it suits me 31%
Yes, deeply 13%
Hmm... Atheists love my blog?

It's still autumn, right?
Pretty damn nice out there... sunny, blue skies, no breeze and hiking up well over the freezing mark - no snow in sight *happy dance*!
Dinner last night was lovely, we had a very nice gang going and all the smokers went outside without me even asking, imagine! Appetizers were coquille st-jacques (but with shrimp, not scallops), amazing funky lentil and veggie soup, fresh thick french bread and organic salad, then dinner was steak au poivre or chicken breast au poivre, with home-made roasted potato wedges and mini corns... the wine was lovely and I left at 10pm just before dessert was served, no way was I sitting through a triple-layer cheesecake.
Maybe that's why I slept like a rock?
Vegas is up in Sweden this week, I'm almost laughing that he chose this time of year to do his business rounds up there, he he. He's freezing his ass off. S'ok, I'll warm him up nicely in a couple of weeks when he makes his way 'round here.
I wish I had funny anecdotes to share today, rants or wicked stories. There was no worm in the apple I just ate, nobody pissed me off and nothing blew up in my face.
Wow! My life rocks! LOL :-)

A man is driving down the freeway with his two pet penguins when he gets pulled over by a cop for speeding. After the cop hands over the speeding ticket to the driver, he notices the penguins and informs the driver that he must take them to the zoo. The driver agrees to do so.
Two months later, the same man is pulled over by the same cop for speeding. The cop notices the penguins again only now they are wearing sunglasses and eating ice cream.
The cop says, "I thought I told you to take those penguins to the zoo."
The man responds, "I did take them to the zoo, now I'm taking them to the beach."

Two more join the club
It's not a coincidence that more and more dog owners are fed up with their allergic, shedding furkids who cost loads in vet visits... it's no use to slap a band-aid on the problem, you need to eliminate it at root cause: most often via the diet. And these are smart, educated and concerned people who are feeding "top foods" but still it's not enough, it's still an artificial diet.
Today on two occasions I've been asked questions on the raw diet, what I feed my kids and why and how, so I've offered information and mostly told them to do their own research, it's not a miracle diet but it can do wonders for most dogs and at this point what do they have to lose?
Both owners were very excited and the typical "holy shit, I had no idea" reaction applied, it was so lovely to see genuine interest and enthusiasm for such a simple concept, really, if you think about it.
I go to sleep tonight feeling happy that two more dogs have a chance at a better life thanks to the best diet mother nature designed for them. Yay!

Some bla bla
Last night's screening of "The Bubble Prize" (see trailer here) rocked! Some of my friends put a movie together with pocket money, creative ideas & original music and you know, I wasn't expecting something so clever and entertaining so I was blown away, LOL! The little theatre was almost packed but my friend N and I laughed the most and the loudest... There's something really cool about seeing people you know, ordinary folk, up on the big screen. I'm so proud of them.
Went to bed too late and I don't know if it was that one glass of wine, whatever the fuck it was for the life of me I couldn't fall asleep for aaaages, how aggravating. A massive headache woke me up at 8am so I had to take painkillers and then try to sleep some more... bleh, stupid PMS woes.
So far I managed to take the kids out to the field for a good hour, by chance I met a really nice guy there with his gorgeous female argentine dogo named "Diva", she was sooo sweet and the three dogs had a blast, played and ran like fiends and now of course after lunch the kids both passed out. Yay! Groceries are done and put away and I even remembered to eat something and have coffee... at 2pm.
My head is still splitting and I'm not looking forward to tonight's loud and bustling dinner at my dogsitter's, specially with the sucky cigarette smoke. Sigh. I promised I'd be there though and can't cancel so it's a "grin and bear it" kinda evening.
So yeah. Sorry for being a terrible bore today. Thems just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Nightmares suck
Maybe I drank too much wine last night, but sleep was deep and dark yet restless and full of bizarre events...
I wrenched myself out of a terrible dream where I had given up my little peanut because two dogs was just too much work, and I was sobbing hysterically and woke up cuz I was crying for real, face down on a wet bedsheet. UGH. That wrecks a night.
I think I managed to sleep all of 10 hours but still feel depleted and heavy-limbed today. Managed to plow though a crapload of icky house chores so at least that, eh? Furkids are exercised, went tanning and all that so I'm thinking of a nice nap soon before tonight's party. *yawns*
Kay gotta go, Vegas is online and I'm too whacked out to multi-task. Why do I have to go out tonight? Wah! Give me a movie, jammies and wine and I am happy. Sigh.

Discovery of the day
Check out my friend Gary's blog, totally inspiring and gorgeous photography - and nevermind the funky french goin' on, LOL! Not too bad for a Texan, I'd say. hehe.

It swingeth the other way
Just as yesterday the blog world was in a snoring coma, today it turned into free booze at the carnival with drunken (freaks) throwing cream pies at each other and dancing around with their pants around the ankles. I love it :-)
Time to go home now, wooo! After dog duties and all that, I've got a hot date with Vegas between rounds of laundry, since that stupid stinky bengay cream for my hip the other day reeked all over my bedsheets - that's just gotta GO. And I think I ran out of underwear... Yes, it's too cold to go without, so don't even think about it. Geez.
I still think it's a super funky couch. Pfft.

I love Fridays!
Streeeetch... easy peasy sunny end-of-workweek, what's not to smile about?
Just had a lovely long chat with Vegas, sadly his ex is having a hard time letting go but that's understandable... he's just so damn amazing and I know how lucky I am to have him. Actually he's lucky to have me too, he knows he's finally met his equal and it's worth moving continents for. A true and magikal love like this happens rarely in a lifetime, if at all for some people - there isn't really much choice about it but to walk the path.
Just had to put that out there, in case some might be wondering.
Blogs... a place to vent, to rant, to let go and ask for a pat on the shoulder for those darker moments in life. It will never replace "real life" but it can become a part of it... just a part. I love my garden, every image and every thought is an extension of me - but I am protective of my heart and my private life so will rarely talk about those in detail here. Shame, cuz those are the best bits ;-)
Just remember that when everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane. Be the salmon and the rewards are that much more worth it. Swim baby, swim!

Christ that post was boring
Apologies for the below... tried to read it and fell asleep. I seriously need to sleep or get laid. Probably both!
Wow! an evening!
Screw being all serious, philosophical and artistic... I've no brains for that tonight. 9pm and am yawning my head off, chores mercifully all done and I'm about to go soak in a hot bubble bath, do the hot oil treatment thing for my hair (yeah I'm so girly) and then crash early for a change.
While walking with the kids in the field tonight, my feet froze for the first time since the snow melted last spring. Bleddy hell, I was seriously hoping that winter would forget us just this once... fat chance, eh?
Disjointed thoughts.
I remember being a kid who, at every halloween, was quite upset at having to wear a snowsuit for trick-or-treating - what was the point? What were we all dressed as? Colorful michelin men? Nobody could see my neat costumes that mom spent hours sewing for us. Now that I think of it, she must have been discouraged too, LOL! She's the best mom ever, seriously - I'm so happy to have been hers.
All this to say that the snow comes later, thank you global warming. Prin you'll still get your snowcake and eat it pretty soon, so stop smirking!
From cold, to hot:
In exactly three weeks Vegas is here, so I'll likely disappear from sight for a few days -make it 4, to be precise. Don't make me tell you why, I need to keep this blog rated PG13. *blush* I need to go wash my zucchinis now - bye!

Where is everyone?
Nobody's blogging, nobody's reading. Is there some sort of conspiracy going on? *goes off to worry*
Chilidog day
Nah the dogs aren't chilly, just me... at least my phonecall to the landlord last night served some good, the heat's been cranked up since then and I could actually sleep without any socks on for the first time in days. They love me!
I'd like to know what people have for breakfast. Do tell me!! I think I eat too much but I'm always famished after taking the kids out for their morning walk, wtf? If the weather gets cold we burn more calories to stay warm, right? So I checked out some photos from this summer and found this one:

...and I'm pissed. My little peanut looked good on there and now she's a fatty. Not only that, but I've also pudged out a little around the waist, to my great distress.
I try to eat well. I walk on average 1.5 to 2 hours per day, sure I have a sedentary office job but still, I move quite a bit (I think). I come from a line of string beans so genetics are on my side, thankfully - am hitting 38 in less than 3 months and the panic is settling in. Waaah!
I think I'll have to toss the Halloween candy and do penance... after this PMS weekend. Yeah. "I'll diet tomorrow" sounds good to me. Where's my apple?

To the ends of the earth
and I'm sure he understands.
When he looks at me so attentively,
and gently licks my hands;
then he rubs his nose on my tailored clothes,
but I never say naught thereat.
For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes,
but never a friend like that.

Buncha atheists!
The poll speaks for itself! I'm taking it down this weekend so cast your vote now if you've been procrastinating. Don't worry it's all anonymous. Tsk.
I got a most depressing email tonight... left me speechless and in tears. A neighborhood akita owner let his 1.5 year old purebred female "have fun" with a german shepherd and now she's had 9 mutt puppies and of course he's selling them cheap and needs to find homes...
FFS! People wake the hell up! The shelters are overflowing with unwanted pets, they die by the truckload every week and nobody gives a fuck?! I begged for him to get her spayed but it fell on deaf ears, apparently. I want to kick him in the head, knee him in the balls and smack him in the head again. May he rot in hell.
On this note I'm off to bed, exhausted by this long and busy day (but at least I got loads of work done, yay for me!). It better not snow in the middle of the night.

One of my favorites, had to share!
God was talking to Adam and Eve one day just before Creation.
He asked, "Well, you two, I only have a couple more goodies left to hand out before my job is done. Which one of you wants to be able to pee standing up?"
Adam raised his hand and yelled "Me! Me! Pick me!!"
So God obliged.
God looked at Eve and said - "Well, sorry Eve... but it looks like you're stuck with the multiple orgasms."

Call me MarshaMellow
That's what today feels like. Slightly toasted, warm and gooey, could use a bit more color and a nice soft bed to melt in. Sweet!
Unlike Prin, I refuse to look outside in case wayward snowflakes cause a premature heart attack. May the snow hold until I'm off to England for New Year's! Who needs the trouble? Sloppy roads, walking-on-butter sidewalks, wet feet and car scraping, shoveling and random snowballs smacked on the side of the head. Meh!
Today's looking productive, I need to make a major dent in my pile of work. Brought some lovely chili for lunch, the kids are getting another spoiling today thanks to their sitter, and I'll even go tan again after work just for the hell of it.
Twenty-two days until Vegas gets here, but who's counting?

Fate can only do so much
So yeah. It's normal and perfectly fine to have low dark moments in life. Nobody's ever born a winner, you have to work damn hard at it and sometimes it feels useless, like chasing an invisible tail with a bad itch. Stop spinning, sit down and take a deep breath. Recuperate and refocus - put your world back in order one thing at a time, one day at a time and eventually it will become manageable again. It might not be your dream life right away but you have to start somewhere, right?
One of Vegas' favorite and most inspiring quotes says "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars". Yeah. Be your own best friend, your kindest critic and hottest sexiest cheerleader! *waves pompoms in the air*
Tuesday's woohoo
To balance out Monday's bleh, LOL!
Nothing much happening here today... the rainy clouds hauled ass earlier and the blue skies are wonderful even if I am trapped in my glass cage here (raahhh!), Vegas is stuck in Liverpool but tech keeps us connected - oh how hard a life he lives, eating duck confit and sipping chardonnay as I type this (!), the furkids are being spoiled by their sitter so I get a break tonight, and I'm daydreaming of shopping for sexy lingerie again... um, ok which girl doesn't?
I had two bananas today. Subconscious is trying to tell me something... can't quite make out what it is... any ideas?
Sigh.
23 days until Vegas visits again. Don't even bother trying to call that weekend, eh? "Not available!"
Good lord this post is all unbalanced and unstylistic.
Fugly.
I give up!

Today's useless fact
Celery has negative calories. It takes more calories to eat a piece of celery than the celery has in it to begin with.

On growth
They say there is no growth without pain, this must be why my joints are achy as hell today. I'm back to limping dammit - thought I was getting better. Oh and that stinky Bengay ointment crap doesn't work either, now I just smell like old sick gramma. Bleurk.
At least I'll go to bed at a reasonable time tonight and with warmth in my heart, Vegas had to crash early so no late-night chatting... specially after today's colorful dramas, it's better this way. We both need the rest. I'll just sneak into his dreams and cuddle him there, yeah that's a thought. Me like.
I can't stop eating halloween candy. It's like a sickness after every holiday ends, the stores are practically giving the stuff away and money jumps out of my pocket and into the tills, what can I do? It's not my fault, I swear - really. I wonder how many dentists own shares in candy companies.
Parting thought of the day: You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
