It's never what you expect

The plan was to paint today.

Waking up tired and achy, putting up painter's tape and just not feeling it on account of the hazy rainy day, I decided to focus on smaller tasks and just take it easier today: after all it's the sabbath, yes?

Somebody has a sense of humor because Big Daddy chose today to get colic.

Long, stressful and harrowing afternoon.

He's all right now, thankfully, but it was a wake-up call.

Colic is the #1 cause of death in horses and you just never know when it will strike, or why, or how bad it will be. Luckily he recovered with the help of vet advice, Bowen and T-Touch treatments, walking, pacing and waiting. It could have gone the other way very quickly, and it can happen again without warning.

Exhausting day, emotionally and physically draining for everyone.

Life comes at you so fast, sometimes you just don't have time to duck.

Holy shit.

And you can't watch them all the time.

Whatever happens though, he's living the sweet life, you know? He got to feel what it's like. He's a lucky [huge] boy.

I hope BD stays healthy...he has such a sweet life with you.
If you put off the painting long enough, perhaps some of those little elves will come do it for you while you slumber.
