Planting the seeds of yum

So at the fruit store yesterday I saw something that cracked me up.

Remember my sink full of fresh rhubarb stalks from our garden? Well, at the store they were selling cello-wrapped pieces so I grabbed a package to examine it.

Are you sitting down?

Four stalks... $2.75. :-o

You hear that, Vegas? Last year you razed and mowed over a big cash crop - LOL.

Seriously, what are these people smoking...!

I suddenly had a brand new reverence for the huge bag of rhubarb sitting in our fridge, so I got to it with baking that crumble! Mmm did it ever turn out yummy... I could have used more apples and less honey and brown sugar as the rhubarb wasn't very sour but Vegas said it was perfect, my sweet tooth must be out of order.

***** pause for ode *****

My sweet little Sunshine went to live with a wonderful new family this morning... We have too many roos and have to re-home a few, it breaks my heart to pieces, specially for this boy as we went through so much together... I hope they all get as lucky as Sunshine did, he went to live the life of a spoiled king but it was still very difficult to let him go. It would have been selfish to keep him so I just have to get over it... :-(
Beautiful boy
Sweet as soft sunlight
I loved you the moment I held you in my arms
Fragile, sick, not knowing
The comfort of human touch
Through thick and thin
Heartbreak, long hours in the night
Not knowing if you would make it
To the next morning
But you rose
And you bloomed
And you are perfect
Loved, now and forever

I really love rhubarb, but only have it tinned nowadays as it's too expensive fresh.

My Dad used to grow it so I know fresh is the best..

That is an amazing color spread on Sunshine, he really lives up to his name. So hard to say goodbye! I know you've found him a good place, though.
