And now the fun starts!

Oooooooooof... Monday.

The holidays are over and the hamster wheel starts turning again.

Yey!

We should get our house evaluation report by Friday, and our contractor is coming by this week to do some minor repairs and updates before we put it the property up for sale. Oh and I need to do some painting and major cleaning up too...

Ack! So exciting, so scary - this makes everything official, the calm before the storm.

I'm so scared we won't find a new, ideal house in time and we'll end up settling, not liking where we move to as it'll feel like a downgrade. I'm equally scared we won't be able to sell this property before our money runs out and then we'll be royally screwed. We set a bare minimum we need to walk away with and I don't know how lucky we'll be.

I guess I have my work cut out for me, eh?

*takes deep breath*

So to recap yesterday... it was quiet, our tummies were still acting up so we couldn't do the romantic dinner thing and it was too cold for outside activities but we did good anyways!
Vegas had a gorgeous bouquet of fresh flowers delivered to me in the morning:

I know, I'm a spoiled wifey!
And I never take it for granted :)

In the afternoon we went to Walmart to find some stuff to play with (hey, we live in a small town now!) and came home with some weird magic play-dough of sorts... Time for tea, arts and crafts and lotsa laughs!

Vegas totally impressed me with his mad skillz - I kid you not!

Don't you just love it? :)

Only I remembered, halfway through, that I stink at sculpting
and only managed to come up with a snake and some marbles. Crap!

Ah well, I have other talents.
*ahem*

Then I made a warm butter cake while Vegas kept me company in the kitchen, click here for the recipe. Trust me, you want this recipe. At least go see the photo, LOL!

We're a simple kinda folk. I don't want diamond rings or vacations in the south of France, I want a cuddle of the couch with my husband, a good movie, a solid pair of work boots and vacations by the sea within driving distance. With the dogs included. I don't like hoity-toity fancy restaurants, I'm happy with a burger and fries although a good thai meal or some sushi once in a while goes a long way to keeping me happy. Clothing is for function more than for form, I love the smell of a good sale and the feeling of having done good. Oh, and the perfume of a freshly-baked loaf of bread.

Gotta have the bread.

Wishing you all a happy Monday, while you're cozy in offices or where-ever you work, think of me shoveling heavy poop-laden bedding from the chicken coop and all that jazz.

Ah, for the love of life!

You two seriously are the sweetest couple I've never met! I'm thinking Paul may have a career as an artist, sculpting. Think you it, you with your photography, him with his clay. Now if he could learn to sculpt using "poop laden bedding" from the coop, it would be a win-win : )

How sweet. You two remind of my daughter and SIL, they do stuff like that. Isn't LOVE grand. I love the things your husband made, he is pretty darn good! Nice marbles....

Best of luck with selling your place, I will say a prayer that it works out perfectly.

glad you had a nice anniversary! But things you did with play-dough. Here is a weird fact about me. The smell of play-dough makes me gag! I once did a corporate team building exercise and we used play-dough for some reason. Everyone in the room had several cans of their own play-dough. I had to leave. the smell was so overwhelming. strange, huh?

Congrats to you and Vegas! Sounds like you had a perfect day for you two.
I was at the zoo yesterday and saw a very fluffy white chicken and thought of you. She was beautiful!

JeanMarie, if only we could turn such amazing ideas into cash crops! wooo! unfortunately... LOL!

Just Breathe, that way if he loses any marbles they'll be easy to find - haha!

Surfergrrl, it's not play-dough and it had NO smell... it's some weird Crayola product. Wasn't too impressed, to be honest... :-/

Piper, yey chickens!! They're fun 99% of the time... then comes the poop cleaning. Merrr.

everyone I've shown those pictures to has been very disturbed by my work :) We had fun - it was really nice to have some sort of creative outlet!

Hurray for one year of marriage :D Hopefully this year will be a bit less hectic - not sure we can cope with another frenzy of events like 2009

Ottavia, it's so much fun to just PLAY once in a while... kids have so much cool stuff, it's fun to borrow :)

Busy Bee, if house hunting is as fun as play-dough then we're all set... LOL!

Vegas, you da artist! As for this year being any less hectic... Um... I doubt so but hey it's better than being bored, right? Team!

A) Any house is a step down from the Fortress of Awesome, so get ready.

B) That is some mad skill work there. You should have used Fimo so you could bake it and keep it. :D

C) The marble joke was done already, but I had been hopin'... :D

Prin, waaaaaaaaaah! I'm going to miss this place that's for certain. Sigh. I need to give it up to not return to work 40 hours a week though. No choice. Fini la bella vita! :(

Daring, we've both been through so much in a year, eh? Woo!
