I know you know what I mean.
I blame Vegas. Damn brit and his book collection, one of which was Nigel Slater's Toast. If you don't know the man, he's a famous chef in the UK, writes alot of kickass cookbooks and whatnot. Very yummy.
Anyways.
Toast is an autobiography of sorts where he goes through his childhood foods, a play by play of what he ate throughout the years and trust me, it includes alot of sweets. Ohhh dear lord, the sweets.
Only I didn't understand half of it due to cultural differences.
"Hunny, what's a treacle tart?"
"Hunny, what's mashed swede?"
"Hunny, what are Hobnobs?"
"Hunny, what's trifle?"
...and so on.
Yes Vegas is a very patient man :-)
For his efforts though, on my way home from work yesterday I stopped by a shop specialising in European food imports and found not one, but two kinds of biscuits mentioned in the book! OK I was dying to try them but I was sure the man would also be thrilled. He didn't disappoint!
I got Ginger Nuts and Hobnobs.
Reeeeeeeerrrrr!
After I'd stuffed my face with about five Ginger Nuts and two Hobnobs (this is pas 11pm at night, you know), Vegas giggles and metions that "possibly, Hobnobs are the most calorie-dense biscuit in the UK. Don't look on the package. Don't do it!"
So of course I looked.
Holy mother of jeebus. 190 calories and 9 grams of fat for two little cookies! BASTIDS! So not fair!
Best. Cookies. Ever.
*cries*So yes, I have been enjoying getting fat the past week but now I have to say goodbye to those fries, burgers, danishes and mountains of bread. Vodka rosé sauce and tortellinis. Dim sums, cheese and ham calzones with meat sauce. Buttermilk biscuits. Chocolates, oh the chocolates. No wonder there's been hardly any room for fruits and veggies in my diet.
I am the michelin man in the making. My freaking thighs are close to rubbing together, how awful is that?
Been eating my emotions and this needs to stop! Normally my appetite disappears when I get stressed out, so am not sure wtf is happening here. Oh add the fact that I abhor any kind of exercise and well, there you go. Gaaaaah!
I seriously need help.

mmmmmmmm Hobnobs.
That is all.
That's why I want to get pregnant soooo bad! I just want to get fat and have no one judge me!
Vegas, pure evil. You AND the cookies.
Rachel, it's as good an excuse as any! LOL
I could chow on some hobnobs. I also love to eat....when I am stressed I eat, when I am happy, I eat, sad=eat....bored=eat. Yikes.
You had me until your thighs "almost rub" together. That lost me. :P
Sounds like my diet. I've always been a strong proponent of eating for taste, not nutrition :P
Hey, you should come down to Brantford where I live.
Highest rate of welfare dependants just about anywhere. So much so the city is set up in two chunks:
Chunk 1 (where I am) people that work for a living and pay taxes
Chunk 2 - people that take the taxes and don't work.
In chunk two there is SOOOO much fat. Front ass is predominant, as is 80's hairstyles and lack of bathing.
Anyways, we'd walk around Wall Mart for a while and that alone would put you on the road back to a healthy lifestyle.
Busy Bee, do you know Hobnobs? I just discovered them and am in trouble.... might have to have them for every emotion :-D
Prin, the pants keep them sausagely behaving...
Frank, it's fine when you're young and elastic but when you get older and more spongy... bleh!
Mike, the front-ass thing... I don't understand how these things happen. I mean, surely at some point these people looked down and noticed, right? But then kept right on inhaling the fried mars bars?
I was just thinking about this today. I feel like I have just been eating crap. We have finally been eating healthy this week and I just got done working out. Not easy though, becoming fat would be so much more enjoyable!
Oh.
Hobnobs are the rockin bestest cookies EVA! I am also partial to Snowballs which are equally evil if you like marshmallow. I have a British stuff shop right down the street from me. Penguin cookies. Ummmmmm.......
Stop me. I stay far far away from the Bramble House, unless I need some mustard powder or brown sauce. Need. See that word? :D
Geez. At my thinnest my thighs rub together. Bugger off :D
From a former "Thigh Rubber" who started flames as she walked around - I say have courage that you too can starve yourself and exercise more to lose the weight from Michelin to spare tire...Good luck and know - I have been there (as many others I assure you!)
oooh Penguins.... Mint Clubs..... Jammie Dodgers.... jumpers for goalposts
why do you tempt me with such pretty photos of delicious food? I mean, that's just evil!
Piper, gotta suffer to be healthy... no, wait, that doesn't sound right... crap!
Myself, how do you know hobnobs!! aie caramba!
Daring, I feel the sparks baby, I feel the sparks.. ugh. They must go away now...
Vegas, step AWAY from the sweets!
Toughgirl, it's what I do. I incense. :-D
I wondered what the smell was
Dude, no messins with my vocab. You know it's a legit word!
*shakes fist at l'agent provocateur*
Well my family background is from England/Ireland/Scotland, so, well, natch right?
And as per my old passport I found the other day, I've been to England 6 times, and have a bizarre sense of what's fun to do when travelling, and one of those things is visiting grocery stores.
Tuc crackers. Only the ones from England, the ones here aren't nearly as tasty....mmmmmm
Oh wow. Hobnobs and Ginger Nuts. There's a british store around the corner where I get to indulge in some of my favourite cookies. Hobnobs or Ginger Nuts (or both!) and a cup of tea... dash of milk - best thing ever! Sometimes I have this random thought: wouldn't it be wonderful if the more we ate, the skinnier we got? I really love my food. Hence, I'm an average, not skinny girl. I watch what I eat a lot, so I can indulge sometimes.
Great memory: being on the plane from Perth (Western Australia) to Sydney. Ordering an earl grey tea (splash of milk), this lady across the aisle leaning over and asking "would you like a hobnob with your cup of tea?". Is that a trick question? I was wonderfully surprised by her friendliness and generosity - and that she got it!
I'm delighted you are enjoying these wonderful cookies (or biscuits as we say down under!)
Mmmmm, I blame English food for my weight gain too...my downfall was the chocolate and caramel digestives.
Toast is fab but may I recommend anything by Nigella Lawson too. Your thighs will not thank me but life is no fun without a calorie or sixty
:o)
Vegas: I hear echoes of Ron Manager :o) If football be the food of love, play on!
Oh, and make TD a proper sherry trifle asap! Too good to miss.
Myself, no trip is complete without trips to the local grocery stores, IMO... it's my favorite part of the trip. I thought I was the only one :-D
Tea Lady, I am now officially an English biscuit addict. Reeeer! Bring on the sweet tea and I'm in heaven...
Lady Banana, where oh where do you harvest your willpower?!
Katie, you're not helping me one bit here, LOL! mmmmmmmmmm
Sian, I gave Vegas his marching orders and he just looked at me and laughed. Hrrmph. I might have to wait until my next trip to England to have trifle... *sniff*
Ooo, penguins. I haven't had one of those forever... Oooo...
No you are not the only one, my new travelling companion does the same thing....there's apparently 3 of us out there!
Prin, poached or grilled?
Myself, wooot! almost enough to form a club :-D
Goddamn, those look good.
They. Are. Delicious!
