Imagine

Imagine that you woke up tomorrow morning and you were the last human being on earth.

OK there might be a few others, but you don't know where they are and have no way of finding out unless you set out to find them. If they even exist.

While you were sleeping, everyone vanished right in the middle of what they were doing.

There is no electricity, no running water, batteries don't work and cars won't start - a giant blackout.

As if you had been transported to the moon, only it's still planet earth and all other animals are alive and well (except for those imprisoned in farms, buildings, cages, stalls, boxes and houses... they will eventually all die from lack of human care) - the human race has vanished and all that's left is the shell of their existence.

Cars block the roads, the sea is littered with spilled oil from crashed tankers, you are surrounded by wreckage of machines gone wild.

What do you do?

Would you want to be left in this world to slowly die from famine, illness, injury, loneliness, grief? Would you want to end your life ahead of the misery or wait until you could go on no more? Would you set out, somehow, to see if you could find other survivors?

Remember, you're on foot and at the mercy of the elements.

Nothing new will be produced, harvested, made or invented.

You are on your own.

Imagine.

siphon a bunch of gasoline and make my way south - get to somewhere with a nice coast and set myself up next to a book shop :)

If I didn't know I was definitely the only one, then I'd probably start looking for people. Either that or get a fleshlight.

Have to Raid the feed store that is just 2 miles aways. Keep some of the whole corn for next years planting. We have a enough taters for a spring planting. Enough canned veggies for several months. Neighbor has 30 angus cows and a bull on the hill with a barn full of hay. Enough guns and ammo in the house to deal with anyone that shows up to take was is MINE. House is heated by wood stove and there is enough wood stacked around here for 5+ years. I may be last, but I will be last for quite a while.

oh i love this kind of pondering!!! i would find a nice 3 wheeled bike with a huge basket in the front and back to load up my stuffs. then i would travel where ever i wanted to go, but prolly head towards a beach. i would raid grocery stores for food and items i need. there are enuff stores in america to survive with dry goods and canned things. the choices would be small but i think it could be done. i would search for other people. i would lay on the beach and read. i would live in millionaires homes.. and use all the free candles i steel from the stores as light at night.. thered be propane tanks a plenty to grill or cook foods. oh my imagination is having the biggest orgasm!!!!

merci! merci!

Wow. This is a great question. I think I would find the nearest bicycle rig a basket to the front of it maybe with some spare wire or string/rope. Then I would put on a backpack and ride towards the nearest town which is only a few miles away. There should be food at the small grocery store. And maybe a few medical and cleaning supplies if needed. I carry as much as I can. Then for water, I could go to our bored well and use a pulley system with a bucket for water. Then I could use the cows for meat and/or milk. Then I could venture out to the bigger city nearby and get seeds and what feed I could carry. I think I could last for a little while at least. I don't think I'd off myself. And if the weather permitted, I would head off in search of others. I would go through houses to find camping equipment like a tent, a better bike with racks maybe. Or a small wagon or utility wagon I could attach to my bike.... Oh, I could go on....and on....

I don't want to imagine. I know I wouldn't want to end my life and I don't feel like I would want to wait around to just see what happens. I think I would venture out knowing that at least I tried.
