Disappointed, but not surprised

Anybody else a bit bothered by this Ted Williams business?

Yes, a homeless man given a miraculous second chance (he even has a Wikipedia page!) messing it up.

What a surprise.

*shakes head*

For those who haven't heard of Ted Williams, here is the video that started it all:

Now, isn't that just awesome? Sober for two years and then bam! A chance encounter, a video posted online that went viral and now the man's a huge sensation, showered with media attention and job offers - it's like a Disney story!

Only, it couldn't be that easy could it?

Wow, a second chance on the second chance!

Brilliant!

Go Ted Go!

Only, he checked himself out of rehab after 12 days. There was some story about him being detained (arrested?) for a fight with his daughter - she wants money? -and who knows what. Everyone has a side in this story and I don't know what's truth or not, but man - wouldn't it be nice to just have a feel-good success story without the drama and the failures?

I want this guy to succeed, on behalf of all those who will never have such a chance to overcome their past and make it in this tough world.

Anyone have more info on this story?

No more info, but it's a sad story. I don't know how I would react if I were thrust in the spotlight like that! It reminds me that often, we are our own worst enemy.

I think everyone wanted to believe the best, but I guess what we fail to realize is he had to be pretty messed up to have a good life to begin with and end up where he ended up. We want to believe and hope for the fairy tale ending, and when it doesn't happen we get cynical and they next time this kind of story happens we have a tendency to get skeptical again. Like China said we are our worst enemy and he would have demons regardless of whether he had money or not. It's like my brother who lived through horrific cancer and yet has done nothing with is life and still drink and smokes. What are you gonna do. Kind of sad. :(

I had not heard the latest about him.
This is so sad though, he was given a big opportunity here to clean up his act; start over.

I don't watch the news or read the papers so I really don't know much about him. Very interesting!
